The Humanitarian Innovation Fund (HIF) has announced its third call for large grant proposals. The Fund’s large grant facility, which provides grants from £75,000 - £150,000 for the development, implementation and testing of an innovation, will be open until the 22 nd April 2012. The Fund was established a year ago by ELRHA (Enhancing Learning and Research for Humanitarian Assistance) and ALNAP (The Active Learning Network for Accountability and Performance in Humanitarian Action) to support organisations and individuals to identify, nurture and share innovative and scalable solutions to the challenges facing effective humanitarian assistance.

The Myanmar HIC, deployed in May 2008, was established to provide information to the humanitarian community responding to the impact of Cyclone Nargis on Myanmar. The site utilized data from the IASC Clusters and their members, as well as providing operational documents, maps,contact information and meeting details. The website's content was jointly managed by the clusters and the Myanmar Information Management Unit (MIMU).By Adam Bentham Ted Lancaster, co-founder of Interhealth, addressed the room earlier on today and asked NGO's to consider two key questions when aid workers become unwell abroad. The foundation was formed in Milan, Italy, in 1999 by a group of professional consultants with broad experience in project preparation, management and evaluation as well as in training of humanitarian aid workers. Our main goal is to support and optimise the activities of organisations working in the field of international development cooperation, humanitarian aid and migration.

Publiés ce 4 avril 2012, les chiffres de l’OCDE sur l’Aide publique au développement sont alarmants : la France accuse une baisse de son aide publique au développement. Elle consacrait en 2010 0,5% de son PIB à l’aide publique au développement contre seulement 0,46% en 2011, soit une chute de 5,6% en volume. La qualité de l’aide française diminue également.
Depuis sa création en 1983, Bioforce forme et accompagne celles et ceux qui s’engagent dans l’action humanitaire : chaque année plus de 1000 personnes sont ainsi formées aux métiers spécifiques de l’humanitaire et du développement (logisticien, administrateur, coordinateur de projet, spécialiste eau-assainissement...) ou accompagnées dans leur démarche d’engagement au service des autres. Les formations Bioforce permettent d’acquérir les compétences professionnelles et le savoir-être indispensables pour réaliser son engagement dans l’action humanitaire. La Plateforme de l’Accompagnement Solidaire accompagne depuis 2005 celles et ceux qui souhaitent s’engager au service des autres.

We are pleased to announce the publication of our Annual Report 2012. This report looks back on a year that has seen the creation of a new country, repressive regimes toppled, and the hope of rights reclaimed. Throughout 2011 Crisis Group provided timely analysis of these and other developments, highlighting the cost of both action and inaction, and advocating political initiatives likely to lead to a peaceful, lasting resolution of acute crises. This report also looks to the future by highlighting key issues that Crisis Group will examine throughout 2012.

Le CERI accueille deux nouveaux chercheurs . Richard Banégas , professeur de science politique à Sciences Po, est spécialiste de la sociologie politique de l'Afrique de l'Ouest. Christopher Bickerton , Associate professor en relations internationales à PSIA de Sciences Po, consacre ses recherches à l'intégration européenne, notamment la politique étrangère de l'UE. Les chercheurs invités du CERI sont actuellement Scott Strauss , professeur de science politique à l'Université du Wisconsin, Madison, spécialiste des questions de violence de masse en Arfique et Lise Storm , Senior Lecturer in Middle East Politics à l'Université d'Exeter.

The Institute reached out to 50,609 beneficiaries during the 2010-11 biennium, with 2011 figures of 26,921 representing a 14 per cent increase over the 23,688 reported in 2010. The figures are inclusive of beneficiaries from all types of events, from training and training related courses and workshops to meetings, conferences, lectures and other outreach activities. Un double constat s’impose : la santé pu-blique est encore à améliorer et son approche territoriale est désormais actée. Le secrétaire d’Etat allemand à la Défense Stéphane Beemelmans souhaite relancer la coopération dans le domaine de la défense entre la France et l’Allemagne. A commencer par les drones, qui ont divisé Paris et Berlin. Il plaide aujourd’hui pour un projet unique. La défense allemande participe-t-elle à la rigueur budgétaire ? Le ministère de la défense participe à l’effort de consolidation budgétaire comme prévu en 2010 au plus fort de la crise. Néanmoins, nous (...)Depuis 2004, des journalistes et patrons de médias d’une vingtaine de pays d’Afrique francophone sont formés à Beijing pour communiquer, sur « la vraie Chine » comme modèle de développement. 208 journalistes et patrons des médias du Bénin, Burundi, Cameroun, Djibouti, Gabon, Guinée-Conakry, Madagascar, Mali, Maurice, Niger, Seychelles, Tchad, Togo et Union de Comores, Mauritanie, Sénégal, République démocratique du Congo, du Congo Brazzaville, Algérie et du Kenya, ont déjà été formés à Beijing et à pékin depuis 2004. Ces formations qui s’inscrivent dans le cadre du programme de renforcement de la coopération sino-africaine, participent à la mise en œuvre de la politique de «l’édification d’une société harmonieuse» voulue par le président chinois Hu Jintao. Elles sont placées sous le patronage des ministères chinois des Affaires étrangères et du Commerce et de l’Institut de diplomatie de Pékin.
