Festival season is approaching, when fashion becomes that much more eclectic and free. People pull out all the stops to create a perfect festival look that’s eye catching, free spirited, and unique. This week for a DIY we customized one of our High and Low Buttondown shirts with fabric pens and embroidery stitches.This week I’m sharing a simple, yet somewhat time intensive project. It’s a catch-all of sorts made from sheets of cardboard. I did this project in steps so it didn’t seem so daunting – it’s worth it because the end product is custom and so, so useful. Here’s how to make your own!: MATERIALS // 25 pieces of cardboard measuring 10″ x 10″, straight edge ruler, a pencil, glue, utility knife with plenty of extra blades.

With little more than some balloons and glitter, you can fill your home with decorative snowballs. Tools and Materials BalloonFor Easter I made papier-mache polka dotted eggs. I created them using small water balloons and tissue paper then I filled them with candy and toys and sealed them shut. The egg can hold a surprising amount of candy and the tissue paper seems delicate making for a delightfully heavy and yet fragile object, much like real egg.

bookmarks | 23 comments I don’t really use real bookmarks. I’m not sure why. They’re not expensive, or hard to make, but I tend to just pick up whatever to mark my pages. Old receipts, scraps of paper, a pencil, etc.Growing up by the beach in Southern California, the ability to knot a macrame bracelet was practically a right of passage. Although those days are long behind us, we’ve never forgotten the ever-so-simple square knot technique. This time, however, we’re replacing hemp and wooden beads for more updated elements like colorful nylon cord and glossy metal charms. Happy knotting!
