How to Make Peanut Butter S'Mores Turnovers. Peanut Butter- S’Mores Turnovers I’m not much of a camper. My husband often takes my son on camping trips, and I happily stay behind and thank the gods for our bug-free house, cozy bed and well-stocked kitchen. I always send them off in comfort… marinate a little meat for them to throw on the grill, pack up some convenience foods and bake a few goodies too. When they return from their camping weekends, I hear mostly about the evenings sitting around the campfire. Story telling, snuggling in blankets, singing songs and roasting marshmallows for S’Mores seem to be recurring favorites.

It all sounds great and everything, but it’s just not for me. Here’s the How To: Thaw out a box of Puff Pastry, and cut along the fold lines to make 6 large rectangles. Layer 1/4 of a whole graham cracker, a piece of milk chocolate bar and a spoonful of peanut butter on one side of the Puff Pastry. Transfer filled turnovers to a parchment-lined baking sheet, and brush with egg wash. Gingerbread S’mores Cake. What’s not to love in that title?? Seriously. Gingerbread, Chocolate and Marshmallows. One Bowl Vanilla Cupcakes For Two. Let’s face it: sometimes we all need a dessert that only makes two servings. Sometimes we just can’t handle 12 servings. Sometimes we eat them all by ourselves. Sometimes we eat them all by ourselves in two hours. Sometimes we eat them all by ourselves in a matter of minutes. Sometimes it’s the best thing ever. FYI: I have no idea what that is like. Haven’t you always wished you could make just enough dessert for yourself? Or… just yourself? Me too. But more often than not, I’ve found it to be a hassle to drag out the mixer, cream the sugar and butter, sift the dry ingredients and all that fun stuff for a measly two cupcakes. What can I say?

Well, I was lazy. It is definitely your typical white cake; fluffy and soft, full of vanilla flavor, and the perfect vehicle for some fluffy white frosting. And it only takes one bowl! I think what I love most about these cupcakes is their customizability. [print_this] One Bowl Vanilla Cupcakes for Two serves 2 1 egg white 2 tablespoons sugar 1/4 cup flour. The intoxicating sip of caffeine and the sweet taste of sugar, all blended together into a mixture of iced creamy goodness and designed to melt in your mouth. Yep, there’s nothing quite like the seductive taste of a Starbucks Frappuccino on a hot summer’s day. With my resolve kicked to the curb in favor of a self-indulgent caffeine hit, I walked into the nearest Starbucks with my wallet in hand.

It had been years since I’d ordered a Frapp, so I was fairly shocked by the variety of flavors available, but I was mostly appalled by the price — $3.45 (plus tax) for a tasty Tall! Take a guess: One is real. Now I’m not a complete cheapo (cough) and I do enjoy an indulgent treat every now and then, but shelling out nearly $4 for a chilled coffee beverage seemed a bit steep. The Starbucks barista must have been used to caffeine-starved customers with mouths agape, ’cause she stood there patiently waiting for me to order. Frapp Price Attack: You’re saving around 92% Dark Chocolate Guinness Cake with Bailey’s Buttercream. Makes an 8″ layered cake So here we are, cooking the world A-Z… and I come across this epic Irish cake.

I make this adaptation and… just like that – my life is complete. I don’t have time to do my hair or makeup, but – I promise you – I’ll always have time for this cake. It’s rich and dark, like an Irish sky at midnight… brightened by sweet, sweet Bailey’s buttercream, which gilds everything like moonlight. The perfect pair. The perfect balance. Especially for breakfast. (Possibly with a big cup of Irish coffee). Don’t worry – the alcohol cooks off, and the Bailey’s frosting? So, go for it, take a bite of Irish nighttime. NOTE: You may find it easiest to bake the cake and do the frosting “crumb coat” one day, then the next day decorate it with the final layer of frosting. Update, March 2013: I added more powdered sugar to counterbalance all that butter. Update, March 2014: Want to learn how to serve this cake in a beer mug? Ingredients: For the buttercream: Method: Blarney Castle. Mmm. Forever. Homemade Tortillas.

Making soft delicious tortillas at home is surprisingly easy. In fact, once I started making my own suddenly all our dinners and lunches were rolled up in fresh tortillas. The dough is made from flour, shortening, water, and salt. I had all the ingredients on hand but the shortening.. which ended up only costing two dollars and has lasted through many many batches of tortillas. Considering how cheap the ingredients are and how delicious they taste it just doesn't make sense to pay for the much more expensive packaged ones. To make the dough you first work the shortening into the flour. You want to incorporate it entirely so that no pieces of shortening remain un-mixed. Next some hot tap water and salt is stirred in with a fork until a dough forms. To make sure that the tortillas are the same size the easiest thing to do is roll the dough into a log and then cut it into equal pieces. I was making a half recipe so I cut my log into six equal pieces and rolled each one into a ball shape. 1.

When Intelligentsia Coffee opened in Pasadena recently, I was intrigued the lasagna cupcakes they served.

The cupcakes are made by Heirloom LA, a catering business. About the size of a muffin, a single lasagna cupcake was a delicious meal. After seeing how much my daughter enjoyed them (she ate my entire cupcake and I had to order a second one), I decided I had to try making them at home. After a bit of research, here is my method. It’s so fun to make with my son, and so easy.

I sit him on the counter and he helps squeeze the lemons. He loves to be “mommy’s little chef.” I cherish when he tries to help out in the kitchen, although sometimes it can be stressful. I’m always afraid when I sit him on the counter that I’ll forget to get the giant kitchen knife out of his reach in time. Luckily he’s only had one accident in the kitchen which was a burn that happened last week when he touched a hot pan on the stove when my back was turned. For this lemonade recipe, I used frozen raspberries.
