ADDIE Process of Instructional Design. 8 New and InstructionalDesign discussions. MITx: The Next Chapter for University Credentialing? A big announcement from MIT today: the university is launching a new online learning initiative, MITx, one that will allow non-enrolled students to take online courses and receive certification if they successfully complete them. MIT has long been known for being on the leading edge of higher education experimentation, most notably with MIT OpenCourseware. The decision by MIT faculty to make all of their course materials freely and openly available online is now a decade old, and some 100 million people have downloaded and accessed that content.

But even with a catalog that boasts over 2,000 courses, MIT OCW has always been just that: courseware. All the syllabi, handouts, and quizzes, but no interaction with professors, no interaction with fellow learners, no grades, no college credit. What MITx is is still very much under construction. There's no indication yet of what that fee will be. MIT says that it plans to open-source the software infrastructure it's developing for MITx. How do I work efficient in a Mooc to maximize my gain of knowledge? « LearningWeb. How to gain knowledge in #Change11? The facilitators posts are spot on, while I struggle to find the perfect blogs to follow.

In a Mooc like #Change11 it is essential that you both write and comment on others blogs. It takes some time, but soon others will start commenting your own blog. I do comment, and I do get comments back. I use a lot of time reading and commenting. But till now it has been quite ineffective. #Change11 How to build an environment/learning platform to host a virtual community of learners around the world.

What would the future education be like? Would it be based on a learning platform where the community of learners learn together, based upon their goals, and their social needs? As reported in this MIT initiative: “M.I.T. said its new learning platform should eventually host a virtual community of learners around the world — and enhance the education of M.I.T.’s on-campus students, with online tools that enrich their classroom and laboratory experiences. The development of the new platform will be accompanied by an M.I.T.

-wide research initiative on online teaching and learning, including grading by computer. And because the M.I.T.x platform will be available free to people around the world, M.I.T. officials said they expected that other universities would also use it to offer their own free online courses. In reflection, MOOC could be the ideal new learning platform which would host such a virtual community of learners around the world. Like this: Like Loading... Top 10 Stories in Education in 2011. Add Last year, we published the Top 10 Stories in Education in 2010 : “The state of education in the U.S. is in a constant state of fluctuation, if not evolution. This year we have seen a lot of interesting, inspiring, and even demoralizing things borne from the world of education.

Taking a look back, the following 10 stories bared significant weight on the trajectory of U.S. schools.” As 2011 comes to a close, we reflect again on how innovation (and perhaps failure) have shaken up the education system. 1. Sir Ken Robinson’s famous animated articulation continues to ground the discussion, but all around the world, local innovators are springing up to perpetuate real change in great knowledge exchanges. 2. Open source coding communities are not new, but the attention of open source technology in education has gained tremendous steam in the last year. 3. When talking about the education market, there’s no avoiding the incumbent players, Pearson and Blackboard, Inc. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. 9.

Kopp_Carroll облачные технологии и массовые открытые дист.курсы (pdf) Project Management. Changing thinking, changing systems. 2012 - The Year of the LMS. I guess I never thought I'd hear myself say that. But something strange is afoot in the Learning Management Software market. With the shift of the internet from 1.0 to 2.0, and beyond, it was easy to envision a world no longer needing the LMS of old. So the question remains. What does the new incarnation of the LMS look like? I'll admit that I've often ignored the LMS market. I don't have any links to stories that back me up on this, but I get a strange feeling that 2012 is the year we begin to see major changes in the LMS market. Maybe the LMS finally gets completely sucked into Talent Management software and course completions simply become part of your HR file...as many do already.

What do you think? And Happy Holidays!!! Guest post: Eight thoughts on higher education in 2012 - College, Inc. Posted at 10:24 AM ET, 12/22/2011 Dec 22, 2011 03:24 PM EST TheWashingtonPost Here is an open letter to university administrators by Clayton M. Christensen, Kim B. Clark professor of business administration at Harvard Business School and Henry J. Eyring, advancement vice president at Brigham Young University-Idaho. They are co-authors of “The Innovative University: Changing the DNA of Higher Education from the Inside Out.” These days it’s perplexing and painful to think about the future of traditional universities. In grappling with the uncertainty of the future, it helps to bear in mind four things that, in our heart of hearts, we really know: 1. 2. 3. 4.

The situation in higher education is not without hope. 1. 2. 3. 4. eFront Learning: Top 10 Free and Open Source eLearning Projects to Watch for 2012. Just a question: The M of MOOC is for Mass. What can we say about mass?

Mass is modern industrial. And human scale and small is conservative? Are mass schools better than small schools? Or maybe a MOOC is just Massive, just because it is possible to organize a mass event with help of social media? Schumacher (Small is Beautiful) and others are in favor of small. Surowiecki, J. (2004) The Wisdom of Crowds: Why the Many Are Smarter Than the Few and How Collective Wisdom Shapes Business, Economies, Societies and Nations, is a voice in favor of masses.

Does a MOOC share the disadvantages of big institutions? Maybe the difference is to be found here: School is an institution and a physical environment and exists for a long time, and a MOOC (and crowd sourcing) is a short time virtual event. What is the advantage of Mass in a MOOC? In MOOC principles and course design (comments) diversity is mentioned and connected to size of the MOOC.

Richard Rowe Let me begin by suggesting a different question than “ Do Open Educational Resources actually increase the digital divide? ” Instead, let me ask: How can OERs be used to reduce the digital divide? Or more importantly, how can OERs be used to increase the opportunities for everyone to maximize their potential? To me, that is the underlying criterion we should use to determine which innovations for learning are desirable, and which ones are not. Let’s begin by stipulating that the deep divides that are increasing today throughout the world, between the “have’s and have not’s”, create dangerous instabilities that impact all of us. However OERs require a delivery system and an environment that enables people to take advantage of them. To be effective, an educational system must involve a comprehensive, systemic approach. Let’s look at these three parts. 1.

Just in Time (JIT) materials, on the other hand, are scarce. 2. 3. And it is not simply a matter of providing the hardware. Enlightus - Social Learning Portal™ SCORM Cloud.
