I have been recently engaged in expanding Blooms Taxonomy section here in Educational Technology and Mobile Learning to include new resources published for the first time. Blooms Taxonomy for The iPad and Blooms Taxonomy for The Web are the most recent additions in this regard. I am also working on Blooms Taxonomy for Android. Some of you send me emails asking why I don't cover Android in my posts as I do with iPad ( or iOS devices ). The answer is simple , I am more used to working on and handling iPad than Android operated devices. I do love Android and I will probably give it more space in this blog this year. I am not going to talk about Blooms Taxonomy because I know all of my readers are already familiar with what it is all about and for those who are new here please refer to Blooms Taxonomy section mentioned above to learn more.

Picture Match is designed to give new readers practice with identifying beginning-letter and short- and long-vowels sounds through a simple, fun game.

Updated in 2008, the game features all letters of the alphabet. In the beginning-letter sounds section, a picture of an object (for example, a car) is displayed, and students are prompted to choose the letter that corresponds with the first letter of the word. In the short- and long-vowel sounds sections, students are prompted to choose the vowel that corresponds with the word. If students choose the correct match, they get words of encouragement and a new picture. If they do not choose the correct match, they receive an audible prompt and can then try again, choosing among the remaining letters. Once all of the pictures have been matched, students can print out a chart showing which pictures go with which letters. Pictures are sorted randomly with each game to provide a challenge if the game is played more than once. Gingerbread Phonics. Pronunciation 5050. Actions | People | Picture Dictionary for Kids.

I haven’t updated my blog for a while, but I was quite busy passing my driving licence test, enjoying May minibreak (we had a week off!) And now making tests, correcting tests, writing certificates… oh, the joyous time for the teachers!

So, in order to make our life easier I want to share a really nice board game called Dixit. I used to play it with friends, but I decided to try it with my intermediate+ students who apparently fell in love with the game. It’s very easy to play and is perfect as an activity at the end of the course when the students know each other and are used to their specific ways of thinking. The main point is to decipher people’s connotations – one person (a storyteller) puts a card on a table (without showing it) and says the clue: phrase/ word/ film title/ name etc. I played the game yesterday and I remember clues like ‘Hitler‘ (strangely, that was pictured by the kitty you can see in the picture above), ‘Middle Ages‘, ‘amniotic fluid‘ or ‘Maths’. Thanks to Larry Ferlazzo for sharing this resource! ImageQuiz is a fantastic new website that lets users create image-based quizzes with ease.

Just upload your image, choose a title, and begin tagging the locations of the labels. Tagging works by drawing on the image to define what the quiz should test people on, and then labeling each of those tags. It is very easy to use and has a basic, simple interface and best of all – no signup required! For example, below is a screenshot of a quiz someone created about the parts of a bicycle. As you can see, it even keeps score, so you can use it as an assessment in the classroom if you would like. Happy quizzing, y’all! Like this: Like Loading...
