Man Buys 10.000 Undeveloped Negatives At a Local Auction and Discovers One of The Most Important Street Photographers of the Mid 20th Century | WebBurgr.com. Imagine this : perhaps the most important street photographer of the twentieth century was a nanny who kept everything to herself. Nobody had ever seen her work and she was a complete unknown until the time of her death. For decades Vivian’s work hid in the shadows until decades later (in 2007), historical hobbyist John Maloof bought a box full of never developed negatives at a local auction for $380.

John began to develop the negatives and it didn’t take long before he realised that these were no ordinary street snapshots from the 50′s and 60′s — these pictures were a lot more then that. Maier’s work is particularly evocative for those who grew up in the 50′s and 60′s because she seemed to stare deep into the soul of the time and preserve the everyday experience of the people.

She ventured outside the comfortable homes and picturesque residential neighborhoods of her employers to document all segments of life in and around the big city. 1953. Here’s a self-portrait of Vivian Comments. Queen Chateau Soapland, Ibaraki. Back to Queen Chateau Soapland! I really wanted to return to Ibaraki just to visit this old dilapidated brothel-like hotel haunted mansion. The first time, I went with my Japanese companion (Satoshi) who fled cowardly and I had to follow him, but this time I will go with my French friend. This mansion is truly a “Soapland”: brothels with baths. The Queen of Heart. The small red triangle on a window indicates that this is the emergency exit in case of fire. The ass hole of Soapland. The back entrance is smashed! A nice kitchen. The owner of a love-hotel nearby said that a homeless had died here. A homeless is dead here. After a little walk in the mud and in the dark, we arrive in a much brighter hallway.

Rocking chair. We’re finally here. The lobby. Near the front door, the phone reception, which probably provides the communication with the chambers. Fancy abandoned telephone. There is a lot of audio and video equipment in this room. It was glass everywhere, ceiling included. Japolaroid. Gettin. Breathtaking landscapes timelapse by Dustin Farrell. RO-AD Architects have designed the Moses Bridge, a bridge that visually parts water and gives pedestrians the unique experience of walking below the water to access Fort de Roovere, a 17th century defence structure located in the Netherlands. From a distance the Moses Bridge is nearly invisible, but becomes visible as one approaches.

The bridge was built form Accoya wood, which underwent a nontoxic modification process to prevent fungal decay and increase its durability. Share With Your Friends. Although designed and built for the prominent purpose of defense, today the castles seem like somewhat unrealistic constructions straight from the fairytale world.

From solid strongholds to oriental fortresses and highly decorative palaces, the castles are our connection to the past, where legends mix with history and reality blends with a fairyland. This fairytale castle is the historical seat of the Prussian Kings and German Emperors. Its origin dates back to the Middle Ages - it was built in the 11th century, then completely destroyed in 1423 and reconstructed in 1461. The view from the castle that stands on top of Mount Hohenzollern (855 m) is as stunning as the complex itself. The castle is located about 50 kilometers (30 mi) south of Stuttgart, the capital of the Baden-Württemberg state.

Although it looks like a castle, Howard is actually a stately home - a private residence of the Howard family that has resided in the complex for more than 300 years. Burg Eltz castle.
