Super Simple Frame. Homemade Holidays: Crock Pot Candles. Growing up in my house, we always made our own holiday gifts. We were pretty poor, and I suppose it was our only option. But it was never presented to me like that (I didn’t even know what ‘poor’ was, really, and I had a stupendously fabulous childhood full of ‘thing finding’ and ‘government cheese’.

And, I guess, the tradition has just continued. The first holiday season that Damian and I spent together, I was a starving college student. Last year we made all our gifts together – our attempt at canning. Anyway, there I go reminiscing. I have three words for you… BACON….WRAPPED….Jalapeños! Have you heard of any three words that sound more delicious than that?? And as much as I would love to take credit for this recipe, I can’t. I don't know what it is about this time of year that makes me just want to have my bare feet in the sand, be watching the sun setting into the ocean, and breathing in the warm salty air of the beach...as i get older, more and more i find myself missing that place i used to go to almost every.single.day. as a teen.
(my skin doesn't miss it. as a matter of fact, i now wish i listened more and DID put SPF on my face...hindsight is 20/20). my mom calls me from her walk on the beach almost every morning... *sigh*yeah, i get a little homesick around this time of the year. heck on my pinterest my "dreaming of summer" has the most pictures in it. ah yes. i miss my ocean. case in point. this bracelet, brought a flood of memories, not because i used to have one like it but because i can totally see me wearing it by the beach, not caring that it's gotten salty and wet, because i can totally make another one in like less than 5 minutes flat when i get home.
*sigh* okay... *cut off excess tails! Strawberry Basil Lemonade. This Strawberry Basil Lemonade is coming to ya from the archives but I’ve given it a bit of a face lift. Strawberry Basil Lemonade was basically the first drink recipe I ever post on WGC and it’s been my most requested drink ever since. It’s a refreshing blend of homemade lemonade that gets fresh strawberries and basil pureed into the mixture. Depending on who’s enjoying this with me, I’ll add a glug or two of gin or just leave it “virgin” and enjoy it over some ice. Either way, it’s the best drink out there and you should probably be drinking this come Monday by the pool working on your tan. At least that’s what I’ll be doing poolside, in Tucson, with my besties. That’s right, I’m heading down to my old stomping grounds this week for an Absolutely Avocados book party and to see basically everyone that still lives there. It’s going to be a whirlwind trip but I’m scheduling plenty of time for poolside relaxing with my girlfriends.

Yep. Breakfast. Breakkie. Now I think about it, when I went vegan for a week, breakfast was the most tricky then too. This time, my experiment of eating full paleo for a month, breakfasts have been relatively easy.
