Todo lo demás ya forma parte de las diversas leyendas que sobre este personaje han circulado. Y es una de estas leyendas en la que nos basaremos para bosquejar una aproximación a su biografía literaria. El indio yaqui, que más tarde ser convertiría en el popular protagonista de los libros de Castaneda, Don Juan, había sido invitado a la universidad estadounidense por una profesora que por aquél entonces era la compañera de Castaneda.

Despite their frequent appearance in the texts, the exact role of the Jhãnas in the Buddhist path has not been settled with unanimity by Theravãda scholars, who are still divided over the question as to whether they are necessary for attaining Nibbana. The primary purpose of this dissertation is to determine the precise role of the Jhãnas in the Theravãda Buddhist presentation of the way to liberation.
