The criteria is something kid friendly and practical. But also beautiful and high quality enough that the collection can be passed down to my kids’ kids. The materials you will need:*Cardstock paper*2 paper maps *Glassine envelopes *Leather scrap*White masking tape*Rubber cement glue (acid free) ** It’s important that you do not use white glue as this will discolor the paper over time. Step 1:Cut cardstock paper desired size.For my example, I used 3 inches by 3 inches cardstock pages.Step 2: Cut map into long strips which will be used to cover the cardstock pages. ..Giddy Giddy.. Tiny pinatas. I found tiny party balloons at a drugstore, shown here with a quarter for scale.
I only blew them up a little until they held the size I wanted. setup: laundry starch (left over from the window experiment), cheap brush, tissue paper, and a shot glass to rest the balloon on one popped – this one only has two layers of tissue paper, see how the light comes through? The red and purple ones are overlapping areas of red and purple tissue paper, the look works best when the colors are allowed to overlap generously. the yellow one is two layers of yellow, then two layers of light orange. and the orange one is two layers of yellow, one layer of red, and one layer of orange on top. long thin opening instead of round one adding tag pasting over so loop of tag is embedded ta da!
DIY Map Coasters ~ * THE COUNTRY CHIC COTTAGE (DIY, Home Decor, Crafts, Farmhouse) I love maps y’all. Love, love, love. I decided to put some maps on coasters for my living room. These are super easy so break out your Mod Podge and follow along. You will need Mod Podge (I actually used the outdoor version even though that is NOT what is pictured), maps, and tiles.
I actually had painted some tiles with a monogram many years ago and they had seen better days. So I revamped those instead of buying new tiles. The tiles were originally from the flooring section at Lowe’s. Trace around your coasters onto the maps and cut your maps to size. Something I just recently learned that has ROCKED my Mod Podge world…before you begin your Mod Podge project, apply a layer of Mod Podge to the BACK of your paper and allow to dry. After that dries, add a layer of Mod Podge to the tile itself and adhere your map to it. After that dries, apply about 3 layers of Mod Podge to the top of your coasters allowing them to fully dry between each coat. This recipe will make play dough that is seriously the closest thing to store-bought you’ll ever make. No falling apart or drying out (as long as stored in a sealed container). It will last up to 6 months.The secret to this recipe?? Two things: First, Cream of Tarter… it’s what helps the dough stay together. and Second, not a lot of salt… all that salt dries out your dough! Ready to make it? Ingredients: 1 C Flour 1 C Water 1/4 C Salt 1 TBSP Vegetable Oil 2 tsp Cream of Tarter Food Coloring (actual coloring or a kool-aid packet will do) Sparkles (If you wanna be a fun mom!)

For several months now, we’ve been receiving emails requesting a friendship bracelet DIY. Well, friends, ask and you shall receive! Today, we’ll give you a step by step tutorial on the classic chevron pattern. If you used to whip up friendship bracelets like a champ in grade school and have since forgotten how, consider this a refresher course. And if you can make these with your eyes closed and arms tied . . . umm, can we still be friends? You’ll need:embroidery threada safety pin or tapea pair of scissors Start by cutting several strands of embroidery thread at about 24 inches each. Start on the left side with the outermost color (shown here in red) and make a forward knot by creating a 4-shape over the 2nd color, loop it under and back through the opening.
Pull up and to the right to tighten.
