Summer Garden Granny Square
I love making Granny Squares. There's just something about creating little stacks of them that is hugely satisfying. They are versatile, and easy for beginners to learn because the basic stitches and method of working "in the round" are simple to get to grips with. It's how I first learnt to crochet 18 months ago, and I still get a huge amount of pleasure from making granny squares. This particular square, which I am calling my Summer Garden Granny Square, is my own pattern. How to turn a circle into granny square
I've done it before! Take your circle, and don't finish off. Count how many stitches you have in total, and divide by 4. Mark the corners now, because you are going to be working your way to them. Let's say you have a circle that has 20 stitches all around. 20 divided by 4 = 5, so with a piece of contrasting yarn, mark each 5th stitch.
