Untitled. Abraham-Louis Breguet. Uhrenmuseum Beyer: Pendule Sympathique, made ca. 1795, by Abraham-Louis Breguet, Paris Abraham-Louis Breguet (10 January 1747 – 17 September 1823), born in Neuchâtel, then a Prussian principality, was a horologist who made many innovations in the course of a career in watchmaking in France.

Abraham-Louis Breguet

In his lifetime he was considered the leading watchmaker of his day, and he built up a clientele that included many leading public figures and members of the European nobility. Life[edit] Breguet was born in Neuchâtel to Jonas-Louis Breguet and Suzanne-Marguerite Bollein. Breguet's father died in 1758, when he was ten, and his formal schooling ended when he was 12.

Molecular machine. Molecular-scale artificial or biological device A molecular machine, nanite, or nanomachine[1] is a molecular component that produces quasi-mechanical movements (output) in response to specific stimuli (input).[2][3] In cellular biology, macromolecular machines frequently perform tasks essential for life, such as DNA replication and ATP synthesis.

Molecular machine

The expression is often more generally applied to molecules that simply mimic functions that occur at the macroscopic level. The term is also common in nanotechnology where a number of highly complex molecular machines have been proposed that are aimed at the goal of constructing a molecular assembler.[4][5] For the last several decades, chemists and physicists alike have attempted, with varying degrees of success, to miniaturize machines found in the macroscopic world.
