How To Create a Classic Tattoo Style Vector Illustration Follow this step by step Adobe Illustrator tutorial to create a vector illustration inspired by the classic tattoo art of Sailor Jerry. Our dagger and heart design will use clean black linework and perfectly formed shapes combined with vector textures to add an element of shading and appreciate the style of traditional tattoo art. A dagger through the heart is a classic tattoo symbol with both religious meanings and associations with betrayal or hurt through love. Amongst other designs this style of tattoo was popular with sailors and is an icon of prominent tattooist Sailor Jerry. The illustration we’ll be creating in this tutorial takes inspiration from these classic tattoo styles but has a much more precise appearance thanks to Illustrators accurate vector tools.
10 Remarkable Website Typography Designs Photo: arnoKath Just a few years ago if you used the font Proxima Nova on your website, other designers would marvel at how awesome your “typography” was. It didn’t matter how you actually used the type on your site – just the fact that your site wasn’t using Arial would be enough to make it stand out from the crowd. Good Practices for Delivering Print Files – fontografist.com Currently there is an overabundance of web designers out there that are extremely talented and can create some really cool stuff. But in my twelve years of experience designing for print, on both the Printer and Agency side of things, I have encountered multiple cases where people fall short in the delivery of their creative when it comes to print work, sometimes causing unnecessary charges from the printer to fix their mistakes. Add to that the fact that I have been approached by more than a few of my friends and colleagues with a “deer-in-headlights” demeanor when it comes to creating or delivering stuff for print. For this, I have compiled a list of good practices and basic guidelines to ensure that your jobs are delivered efficiently. This is, of course, assuming that you are using InDesign as your final delivery vehicle (which I recommend) regardless of which application you used to design the piece.1. The document size is the size of the document.
The 69 Rules of Punctuation: All the ways to use each of the punctuation marks The title is a bit a misleading. Sadly, there are more than sixty-nine “rules” of punctuation. When it comes to punctuation rules, there are probably countless guidelines about how NOT to use them. But the reality is, if you can just learn what each of the punctuation marks do, you won’t have to worry so much about all the ways NOT to use them. This chart separates each of the 14 major punctuation marks (asterisks are excluded from this list) and identifies most all of the ways you could possibly use each punctuation mark. Note that some punctuation marks, like the en dash, have very few rules (only one this case), whereas others, like the comma, have over a dozen.

If you missed my previous write-up about them, adJelly offers a fantastic collection of specs for all the most popular social media sites like Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram, LinkedIn and more. You simply select the social media site you’re creating ads, images or graphics for in the left column and you’re presented with all the specs you’ll need. How To Create a Retro Style Race Poster in Photoshop I recently put together a little vintage style poster to let my friends know about a karting event I’m organising for my stag do. I know lots of my readers are also big fans of the retro style and I had loads of fun creating the design, so I thought I’d share the process as a tutorial to give an insight into the techniques used. We’ll use Photoshop to put together the poster layout with various textures and brushes, but also switch back and forth to Illustrator to create the typographic elements. Here’s the little poster design I put together for my karting event.
