I’ll admit it: I’ve always had a particularly soft spot for strange (but true) trivia, and nature goes out of its way to provide an endless source for that need. One of the highlights of my childhood vacations was getting a chance to visit a (the?) Ripley’s Believe It Or Not Museum in Myrtle Beach (land of the minigolf course, where shells with googly eyes roam free), which was exactly as kitschy and hokey as you can possibly imagine. Word to the wise: that mirror they provide you with to try tongue tricks? Don’t trust it. God damn it, don’t trust that stupid thing.
