6 Types of Blended Learning

http://www.teachthought.com/learning/6-types-of-blended-learning/ Blended Learning is not so much an innovation as it is a natural by-product of the digital domain creeping into physical boundaries. As digital and social media become more and more prevalent in the life of learners, it was only a matter of time before learning became “blended” by necessity. That said, there’s a bit more to Blended and “Hybrid” Learning than throwing in a little digital learning.
The label of “21st Century learning” is vague, and is an idea that we here at TeachThought like to take a swing at as often as possible, including:

10 Types Of Writing For eLearning

When I started counting the types of writing that are potentially required to produce an online course, I was stunned. I realized that one instructional designer can potentially provide the skills of an entire writing department . Not only do we need skills for expository, creative, persuasive and technical writing, but we often write about topics for which we know very little at first. http://theelearningcoach.com/elearning_design/10-types-of-writing-for-elearning/

Flipping the Classroom

Watching your child fail makes you feel helpless, angry and sad. You worry about everything from your child’s self-esteem and social development to their future success. James Lehman explains that while it’s natural for parents to worry about failure, there are times when it can be productive for kids—and a chance for them to change. "Failure is an opportunity to get your child to look at himself." http://www.empoweringparents.com/The-Benefits-of-Natural-Consequences.php#

Natural Consequences – Why You Should Let Your Child Fail

As I approach a significant academic milestone this semester with the completion of my dissertation and PhD, I thought I’d share a very handy iPad application I’ve been using to annotate, correct and edit PDF versions of my own writing recently: iAnnotate PDF . iAnnotate PDF is $10 on iTunes , but it’s worth every penny. I generally use my free Dropbox account to upload PDF versions of documents to “the cloud,” then download them to my iPad with the free Dropbox iPad app to open them first in DropBox. Then I open the file in iAnnotate PDF. Just click the arrow icon in the upper right corner, and after it’s installed iAnnotate PDF should appear as a destination app option. I love how iAnnotate PDF supports highlighting, adding notes to pages, and also freehand writing.

Try Flubaroo to automate and add functionality to the GoogleDocs Self-Grading Quiz. View new post on this blog The GoogleDocs Form is an efficient way for teachers to collect small pieces of information because it automatically displays the information in a spreadsheet. Teachers can add formulas to those spreadsheets to create multiple-choice quizzes that grade themselves. Since a form can be linked or embedded into a website, wiki or blog, students do not need email accounts to take a quiz.
