The warm-up part consists of three tasks. The first one teaches Ss various career collocations and their meanings, what follows is a short speaking task during which Ss will actively use new phrases. The worksheet consists of many different exercises that will make your students speak a lot, learn some vocabulary and practise setting SMART goals. The lesson plan starts with two speaking warm-up activities. First, students need to read some quotes connected with work productivity and discuss whether they agree or disagree with them, and of course explain their opinion. Then, in the next task they have a list of factors and they need to talk about the ones that badly affect their work productivity. Before watching videos, students do one more task, that is they have to complete a few sentences with correct prepositions to create such phrases as: pay attention to, feel in control, keep track of, etc.

Students watch the first video which is about 5 tips for being more productive. Eslbrains - Unconventional career advice. This Business English lesson plan focuses on career advice. It has been designed for career counselors, but it worked great both with HR people and adult professionals (if you want to do this with young adults without working experience, you must adapt the discussion section). The main point of the lesson is a video by Professor Scott Galloway of NYU who gives “unsolicited (and unconventional) career advice”. This ESL worksheet also includes a grammar point on giving advice using various structures. This Business English lesson plan is divided into three parts: a warm-up speaking task, grammar and video comprehension. First, students need to discuss various aspects that may influence career.

The next page focuses on the video. All in all, the lesson should take around 60 minutes, including the 6-minute video, depending on how much time you allocate to speaking activities. The worksheet starts with two warm-up tasks that introduce the topic but also get your students talking and practising their speaking skills.
