Complete and In-Depth Minecart Station Tutorials

I've started a series of videos where I show you guys each part of a Minecart Station. I started off showing and making the base of my Minecart Station, and then I have/will be posting 'attachments' to the base. There are a large amount of different possibilities for your station if you pick and choose ideas from each episode, or you could just take principles and make an entirely new station! This series is meant to help you guys make the best Minecart Station in your world for your specific needs. If you like them, please rate the video, leave a comment, or even subscribe! I've got a predicament that could use the minds of the Compendium.

The server I play on has a minecart transportation system. Before you immediately start finding the myriad of minecart station videos to show me, my problem is different. We aren't looking for a station that allows multiple route choices from the beginning station, but you have to return to the station in order to head out to another area. I initially designed an expandable 4 route junction (shaped like a plus sign), which I called a roundabout since it worked in much the same way, with people having control of their direction (straight, left, right, return) just before they enter the roundabout. You can read more about it here, as well as look at an image of the rough draft design. I got it to work, but it ended up having a fairly large footprint, and the way I envisioned these things had them throughout the land as we expanded and expanded. Why powered rails are quite excellent, despite people whining.

Ok, so we now have powered rails; the overwhelming community reseponse seems to be negative.

Why powered rails are quite excellent, despite people whining

I will explain why powered rails really are not that expensive, and how they provide many uses classical boosters were not capable of. First off, a classical booster uses an additional cart (5 iron), and between 10-16 rails (we will say 16 to make it round, and say it uses 5-6 iron, since 6 iron = 16 rails). So a classical booster usually costs around 10-11 iron. A classical booster will send you maybe an additional 150 blocks or so than your current momentum would have, for that 10-11 iron, provided you were already at full speed. Now the new ones: they cost 6 gold for 6. Now the all the good new features of the powered boosters. The most important thing the new boosters give is CONTROL. Another problem the old boosters had was malfunction. This also has application for musical machines.

To summarize, the people who are whining did not think their arguments though at all. All about Powered Rails Thread - Minecraft Forum - Page 2. Thought I would share my personal research on the comparative strength of powered rails vs. boosters.

I conducted three types of tests:[*:9yryqxf8]Distance per rail [*:9yryqxf8]Optimal spacing for speed [*:9yryqxf8]ClimbingControl Group The control group was a simple resetting booster, using a single oscillating cart to propel double-stacked booster carts into the player cart when a stone pressure plate is depressed. The double-stacked booster carts parallel the player cart for 2 rail lengths plus the tile with the pressure plate. Distance Per Rail To test distance per rail, I created a loop around my fort. I connected both the resetting booster and the powered rail input tracks to the loop. I then measured how many flat tiles various power sources could cover. Powered Rail.
