Elderscapes

While a few old-age homes were already established in the late 19th, early 20th century these were occupied only by either Anglo-Indians or the very poor.58 For the last 20-25 years old age homes for the (upper) middle class have mushroomed throughout India. In Indian public discourses the emergence of 'old age homes' often symbolizes the disintegration of the joint family and therefore the country's social and moral decline. While most of the narratives still stigmatize living in old age homes ”some public and media discourse is much more positive, as are the views of many of the old-age-home proprietors and indeed a sizable number of the homes’ residents. #1 άσκηση. He used the time to study how to deliver journalism in a world of mobile-device ubiquity. In 2009, he launched CellStories.net, which puts out one story a day exclusively for mobile devices. And he landed a gig teaching journalism at Columbia College in downtown Chicago. As a professor, Sinker focuses on entrepreneurial journalism and independent media. Choose Your Own Adventure is a series of children's gamebooks where each story is written from a second-person point of view, with the reader assuming the role of the protagonist and making choices that determine the main character's actions and the plot's outcome.

The series was based upon a concept created by Edward Packard and originally published by Constance Cappel's and R. A. As a child of the 80s, the Choose Your Own Adventure books were a fixture of my rainy afternoons.

My elementary school library kept a low, fairly unmaintained-looking shelf of them hidden in one of its back corners. Whether this non-marquee placement was an attempt by the librarians to deemphasize the books in favor of ‘serious’ (children’s) literature or was simply my good luck I still haven’t worked out. But it meant there was a place that I could retreat to and dive into unfamiliar worlds without distraction. A lot of what I read in those days served a similar purpose.
