Network theory is an area of computer science and network science and part of graph theory . It has application in many disciplines including statistical physics, particle physics , computer science, biology , economics , operations research , and sociology . Network theory concerns itself with the study of graphs as a representation of either symmetric relations or, more generally, of asymmetric relations between discrete objects. Applications of network theory include logistical networks, the World Wide Web , Internet, gene regulatory networks , metabolic networks, social networks , epistemological networks, etc. See list of network theory topics for more examples.
A social network is a social structure made up of a set of actors (such as individuals or organizations) and a complex set of the dyadic ties between these actors. The social network perspective provides a clear way of analyzing the structure of whole social entities. [ 1 ] The study of these structures uses social network analysis to identify local and global patterns, locate influential entities, and examine network dynamics. Social networks and the analysis of them is an inherently interdisciplinary academic field which emerged from social psychology , sociology , statistics , and graph theory . Georg Simmel authored early structural theories in sociology emphasizing the dynamics of triads and "web of group affiliations." [ 2 ] Jacob Moreno is credited with developing the first sociograms in the 1930s to study interpersonal relationships.
Dunbar's number is a suggested cognitive limit to the number of people with whom one can maintain stable social relationships . These are relationships in which an individual knows who each person is, and how each person relates to every other person. [ 1 ] Proponents assert that numbers larger than this generally require more restrictive rules, laws, and enforced norms to maintain a stable, cohesive group . It has been proposed to lie between 100 and 230, with a commonly used value of 150. [ 2 ] [ 3 ] Dunbar's number states the number of people one knows and keeps social contact with, and it does not include the number of people known personally with a ceased social relationship, nor people just generally known with a lack of persistent social relationship, a number which might be much higher and likely depends on long-term memory size.
Six degrees of separation. Six degrees of separation is the theory that everyone and everything is six or fewer steps away, by way of introduction, from any other person in the world, so that a chain of " a friend of a friend " statements can be made to connect any two people in a maximum of six steps. It was originally set out by Frigyes Karinthy and popularized by a play written by John Guare . [ edit ] Early conceptions [ edit ] Shrinking world Theories on optimal design of cities, city traffic flows, neighborhoods and demographics were in vogue after World War I .
Social dynamics can refer to the behavior of groups that results from the interactions of individual group members as well to the study of the relationship between individual interactions and group level behaviors. [ 1 ] The field of social dynamics brings together ideas from Economics , Sociology , Social Psychology , and other disciplines, and is a sub-field of complex adaptive systems or complexity science . The fundamental assumption of the field is that individuals are influenced by one another's behavior. The field is closely related to system dynamics . Like system dynamics, social dynamics is concerned with changes over time and emphasizes the role of feedbacks.

Gestion de communauté
Roles & Functions...
A virtual community is a social network of individuals who interact through specific social media , potentially crossing geographical and political boundaries in order to pursue mutual interests or goals. One of the most pervasive types of virtual community operate under social networking services consisting of various online communities . The term virtual community is attributed to the book of the same title by Howard Rheingold , published in 1993. The book's discussion ranges from Rheingold's adventures on The WELL , computer-mediated communication and social groups and information science. Technologies cited include Usenet , MUDs (Multi-User Dungeon) and their derivatives MUSHes and MOOs , Internet Relay Chat (IRC), chat rooms and electronic mailing lists . Rheingold also points out the potential benefits for personal psychological well-being, as well as for society at large, of belonging to a virtual community.
Reputation of a social entity (a person , a group of people , an organization ) is an opinion about that entity, typically a result of social evaluation on a set of criteria. It is important in business , education , online communities , and many other fields. Reputation may be considered as a component of identity as defined by others. Reputation is known to be a ubiquitous , spontaneous , and highly efficient mechanism of social control in natural societies. It is a subject of study in social, management and technological sciences .
Medium to large-sized advertising agencies divide their work into various departments, traditionally splitting functions into interacting with clients and looking out for their interests (account management), buying advertising (media), and creating advertising (creative). The importance of the voice of the consumer has grown over time. Around the 1980s US ad agencies introduced a new discipline from the UK called account planning which became a primary function in most US ad agencies in the 90s.

In sociology , a tipping point is a point in time when a group–-or a large number of group members--rapidly and dramatically changes its behavior by widely adopting a previously rare practice. The phrase was first used in sociology by Morton Grodzins when he adopted the phrase from physics where it referred to the adding a small amount of weight to a balanced object until the additional weight caused the object to suddenly and completely topple, or tip. Grodzins studied integrating American neighborhoods in the early 1960s.
The Ten Step Planning Methodology Over the past fifteen years I have developed a proven, practical, generic Ten Steps Competitive Planning Methodology. The first figure shown below works perfectly for all market-led Business Plans. The second figure shows a minimal number of planning tools within the Planning Methodology, which will still allow a good plan to be produced.
