So, what does Molly do that other leaders don't? To begin with, she regularly reminds her team members of the purpose of their work.

Molly is a transformational leader. In this article, we'll explore what transformational leadership is, and we'll outline how you can become a transformational leader. What is Transformational Leadership? Leadership expert James McGregor Burns introduced the concept of transformational leadership in his 1978 book, "Leadership. " Bernard M. Is a model of integrity and fairness. More than 25 years after Bass' book, transformational leadership is often argued to be the most important ideas in business leadership. Note: Tip: Key Points. Mental Models. How do you think the most rational people in the world operate their minds?

Mental Models

How do they make better decisions? They do it by mentally filing away a massive, but finite amount of fundamental, unchanging knowledge that can be used in evaluating the infinite number of unique scenarios which show up in the real world. That is how consistently rational and effective thinking is done, and if we want to learn how to think properly ourselves, we need to figure out how it's done.

Fortunately, there is a way, and it works. Before we dig deeper, let's start by watching this short video on a concept called mental models. It's not that complicated, right?

Schooling Ourselves in an Unequal America

The familiar, one-dimensional story told about American education is that it was once the best system in the world but that now it’s headed down the drain, with piles of money thrown down after it. The truth is that there are two very different education stories in America. The children of the wealthiest 10 percent or so do receive some of the best education in the world, and the quality keeps getting better. For most everyone else, this is not the case. America’s average standing in global education rankings has tumbled not because everyone is falling, but because of the country’s deep, still-widening achievement gap between socioeconomic groups. And while America does spend plenty on education, it funnels a disproportionate share into educating wealthier students, worsening that gap. Objective Subject/Threespot On average, money is not the problem. The Common Core Mathematics Standards and Community College Requirements - Top Performers.

He looks for evidence and weighs it carefully, and is not an ideologue. Nonetheless, there seems to be a conflict between Marc's firm support for the Common Core standards and the findings of this study. The common core math standards prescribe the content of Algebra I and Algebra II for all students, while Marc concludes from this recent study about college readiness that what is normally taught in h.s. mathematics is not needed in community colleges. The NCEE report says that "the policy of requiring a passing score on an Algebra II exam for high school graduation simply cannot be justified. " We also observed that the point of taking Algebra II is to prepare oneself for the rest of the courses that culminate in the calculus.

Applying Transitions: Educational Equity

Students of color continue to lag behind their white peers on standardized test scores, graduation rates, and enrollment in gifted and talented programming. Recognizing that the achievement gap is shaped by deep-seated discrimination and prejudice, some communities are going beyond short-term changes that solely address the academic challenges of individual students. Effectively narrowing the gap requires unpacking historical and ongoing racism, letting go of old assumptions and expectations, and re-defining roles for parents, educators, and students. In short, the entire school community must transition to a new way of educating students.
