DIY: Bow Clutch Sewing Tutorial. And fiiiinally... the tutorial you've been waiting for.

DIY: Bow Clutch Sewing Tutorial

This is my first real sewing tutorial - which scares me a bit, because I've never actually taken a sewing class, so I don't know all the terminology. What I do know is that I've learned to sew lots of things by reading tutorials, so hopefully I can make this simple enough that even you beginners can feel confident making a bag. And yes, a bag with a zipper! It can be done, I promise. There are plenty of photos, so hopefully that will help.

If you have any questions, please leave them in the comments section and I'll be happy to clarify. **Also, please note except where I say, "Sew close to the edge," I am using a 1/2" seam allowance throughout. Ok, let's get started! 1. 2. 3. 4. Sometimes, at the end of this step, if my strap doesn't feel sturdy enough, I'll cut a thin strip of interfacing and tuck it inside the crease before sewing. 5. 6. 7. DIY Open Wide Zippered Pouch. Doesn’t it ever get annoying digging through a zippered pouch?

DIY Open Wide Zippered Pouch

I love being able to see what’s inside and what I’m searching for. I spotted this little pouch the other day and had to make something similar. I also made a bunch of sizes, but today I’ll show you the small size, next time, I’ll share the medium and large sizes (not pictured) so you can make all three! Materials: fabric, 1/4 yard would be plentyzipper, at least 10″ long or longerthreadinterfacing of your choice, I used Pellon 101SF, or skip it all togetherscrap for zipper end pull Directions:(1/2″ seam allowance, unless otherwise noted) (Optional) Fuse on or baste on interfacing of your choice to main exterior pieces.

Lay one exterior piece right side up, lay zipper (teeth side down) on top with the zipper pull at the left – aligning zipper tape edge to the raw edges of the top of the exterior piece. Use your zipper foot and a 1/4″ seam allowance. Flip so that the fabrics are wrong sides facing and press. That’s it! Ta-da! The Spiky Hedgehog Purse. I really am in “spiky” fever these few days after making the Triangle Fold Coaster.

The Spiky Hedgehog Purse

I transformed those “spikies” into 2 hedgehog purses, which I have named Bluno and Reddy. They measure only about 10cm x 9cm. Bluno is a male hedgehog and Reddy is a female. They met each other in the park on one sunny morning, and this is how their story begins….. click “Next” below the photo to view the full storyboard of their meet-up. Photographing them was not an easy task as compared with my previous crafts. . ? That we watch in National Geography. I downloaded the hedgehog pattern from LollyChops (I am a big fan of Lolly) a few months ago and kept in my craft “library” since I know that it will inspire me to come up with something that is my own…. More to come???? Well…. am I going to continue with the unfinished story of them….. shhhh it is a secret!!!! Special thanks to Sumay who assisted me in narrating the story.
