This "reform" abdicates control of education explicitly given to states by the framers of the U.S. Constitution to a federal bureaucracy. The U.S. Department of Education received federal endorsements from entities as National Governors Association, Council of Chief School Officers and Achieve Inc. David Axelrod, Senior Advisor to President Obama, stated the CCSS is an initiative of the Obama Administration. A groundswell of parents is pushing back, generating crowded town hall meetings across Alabama.

The fundamental question for Alabamians is: "Will our children's academic progress be better or worse off with Common Core? (AP) — More than five years after U.S. governors began a bipartisan effort to set new standards in American schools, the Common Core initiative has morphed into a political tempest fueling division among Republicans.
