Magnificent Oil Paintings by Leonid Afremov. Part 1&-&AmO Images:...

"I tried different techniques during my career, but I especially fell in love with painting with oil and pallette-knife. Every artwork is the result of long painting process; every canvas is born during the creative search; every painting is full of my inner world. Each of my paintings brings different mood, colors and emotions. I love to express the beauty, harmony and spirit of this world in my paintings. Sahara wonderland. Clouds are created when rising air, through expansion, cools to the point where some of the water vapor molecules “clump together” faster than they are torn apart by their thermal energy. Before I Die… in NOLA

After losing someone she loved and falling into depression, Chang created this experiment on an abandoned house in her neighborhood to create an anonymous place to help restore perspective and share intimately with her neighbors. The project gained global attention and thanks to passionate people around the world, over 1000 Before I Die walls have now been created in over 70 countries, including Kazakhstan, Iraq, Haiti, China, Ukraine, Portugal, Japan, Denmark, Argentina, and South Africa. The walls are an honest mess of the longing, pain, joy, insecurity, gratitude, fear, and wonder you find in every community, and they reimagine public spaces that nurture honesty, vulnerability, trust and understanding. The Before I Die book is a celebration of these walls and the stories behind them.

12 Architects that Changed the World

Still, humanity gives birth to visionaries in other domains as well. And architecture is yet another great field where these bright minds create marvels and change perspectives. Some architects are even responsible for creating masterpieces with an emotional impact on people and can change the way we perceive cities and countries. Artists or not, these farsighted architects, were and many continue to be, the masters in redesigning our future. 9vmjy.jpg (1869×1396) DSCN0193. Google Image Result for. 7 Amazing Works of Art Done With Unorthodox Methods

Everyone made some sort of sword out of Popsicle sticks or shield out of a plate. But how many of us out there actually made works of art in these bizarre, non-conformist ways? These pieces of art were created with extremely unorthodox methods and still managed to maintain the label “art.” These bunnies, pictured above, are all made of Play-Doh.

Surprisingly, this exhibit took place all around New York , with bunnies large and small getting in people’s way as they tried to get to work in the morning. While it looks like a crappy pixelized version of a honeycomb, this is in fact a representation of a photo created with crayons. 3D Paintings on Panes of Glass

Viewers are treated to different shifting perspectives of the works based on where they stand in the art space. Spriggs work revolves around powerful explosive imagery, often resembling storms, cosmic blasts or firework like explosions. Xiawan’s “spatial paintings,” which often feature distorted figures, are drawn individually using colored pencil on tinted glass. Only when these pieces are combined on their floor racks do the images create the whole hologram like effect. Roy Lichtenstein. Drowning Girl. 1963

The source for this work is Run for Love! Published by DC Comics in 1962, the cover of which the artist significantly altered to arrive at the finished composition. In the original illustration, the drowning girl’s boyfriend appears in the background, clinging to a capsized boat. Lichtenstein cropped the image dramatically, showing the girl alone and encircled by a threatening wave.

LARRY CARLSON // THE HIGH VOLTAGE LIVING CREATURES // 2007. Interactive Painting. I received my incredible Reddit Secret Santa present this morning - an interactive painting from user TheBlackSquid! This is so completely awesome - totally beyond anything that I could've hoped for. The painting depicts a red octopus floating in the water seemingly contending with a large thousand-legged creature flying above. I love all the patterns that are detailed onto the painting - they look just stunning in person. That's not all, though - the painting includes four knobs with associated magnets. You can snap them on to the painting and move them around to suit your desires (see the Flickr photos and Vimeo video for more details). I've been playing around with the positioning of the knobs and right now they're closer to "eyes" on the large mass. TheBlackSquid also included a letter and USB drive with the painting (the drive contained photos, video, and some music to listen to - Blonde Redhead, Gorillaz, LCD Soundsystem, Pantha Du Prince, and The Octopus Project).

Earth as Art: Landsat satellite images of the Earth from space look like paintings. The US Geological Survey has put together several collections called Earth As Art. They feature Landsat satellite images selected for their artistic quality, rather than for scientific reasons. The Landsat programme is a series of Earth-observing satellite missions jointly managed by NASA and the US Geological Survey. Since 1972, Landsat satellites have collected information about Earth from space. The images are presented in "false colour" - satellites use both visible and invisible parts of the electromagnetic spectrum.

Near-infrared light is invisible to the human eye, but adding it to these images allows scientists to "see" the surface of the Earth in other than natural colours. Conclave Obscurum. TRIANGULATION BLOG. Gabriel Dawe was born in Mexico City where he grew up surrounded by the intensity and color of Mexican culture. After working as a graphic designer, he moved to Montreal, Canada in 2000 following a desire to explore foreign land. In search for creative freedom he started experimenting and creating artwork, which eventually led him to explore textiles and embroidery—activities traditionally associated with women and which were forbidden for a boy growing up in Mexico.

Because of this, his work is subversive of notions of masculinity and machismo that are so ingrained in his culture.

Extraordinary Funny and Clever Illustrations. Advertisement The Malaysian artist Chow Hon Lam has made some very funny but clever illustrations that also includes a touch of irony. The artist himself thinks that even if you are an animal, an object or some sort of food, you have something to say even though you can’t speak. Therefore Hon Lam wants to create and tell their story to the worldWhen people confront him about it, he just say: “I guess they must have something to say … Trust me, I try to communicate with them!” In the illustrations you can see how a the milk in a cow’s body is emptying itself while milking, gingerbread men creating themselves, a golfer breaking the sky with his golfball, etc. Mary Jane's Cinema.
