Hoxton Hotel in the City of London We started doing things differently on the East London scene back in 2006 when we opened The Hoxton, Shoreditch. Back then we were labelled the "no bull shit" hotel, because we took away everything that pissed people off in traditional hotels - no expensive mini-bars, no high rate phone calls and no paid for internet. We became the anti-hotel. Today we’ve evolved, just like the neighbourhood we first started in, but that "no rip-off" policy is still very much at the heart of everything we do. We were always never just about offering a bed for the night, we wanted to be more than that, providing a place where people could eat, drink, work and play anytime of day. We curate an amazing events programme inspired by the local area, working with our neighbours to showcase the good and the great of the cities we form part of.

Water absorption spectrum Water and global warming Absorption spectra of gaseous, liquid and solid water The vibrational spectra of liquid water The visible and UV spectra of liquid water Water and global warming Seth's Blog: Texting while working Yes, you shouldn't text while driving, or talk on the cell phone, or argue with your dog or drive blindfolded. It's an idiot move, one that often leads to death (yours or someone else's). I don't think you should text while working, either. Or use social networking software of any kind for that matter. And you probably shouldn't eat crunchy chips, either. I don't think there's anything wrong with doing all that at work (in moderation).

Cellphone cops make 'joke' of law A senior police officer has condemned colleagues for using their cellphones while driving, saying it is a joke to go out and enforce the law when officers appear to be readily flouting it. Another officer has been caught on camera talking on his cellphone at traffic lights. He was filmed by a motorist in West Auckland on Thursday. "I wound down the window and started recording, I was yelling out trying to get his attention," said the motorist, who did not want to be identified. Creative Characters interview with Michael Doret, January 2011 He started up his foundry Alphabet Soup seven years ago, and has published one typeface family a year on average. But what typefaces they are! With up to 2000 glyphs per font, and endless ways of using digital technology to emulate hand-lettering, his fonts are clearly the work of a seasoned scriptmeister. Indeed, before entering the font business, Michael Doret was already a household name in the design world, producing iconic designs for the likes of The New York Knicks, KISS and TIME Magazine. Having learned the trade under the guidance of no less a guru than Ed Benguiat, this month’s interviewee has been a one-man force in lettering and logotype design since the mid ’70s. These days his partners in type are designers like Stuart Sandler, Patrick Griffin and Mark Simonson.

Understanding Traffic Flow of a NZ ISP. Generic ISP NZ Limited This post attempts to describe how Internet traffic with a fairly standard ISP works in New Zealand, from the point of a fictional ISP called “Generic ISP NZ Limited”. I can’t stress enough that this isn’t modelled on any actual ISP in New Zealand! The first thing to note is if you work in an ISP in New Zealand is that I've taken a few creative liberties with a few things.
