If you’ve wondered where many of those YouTube videos get their background music from, you’ve come to the right place. Music with Creative Commons licenses are music compositions written, produced and shared by people who do not charge anything when you use their music for your own use, commercially or non-commercially. Basically, they make the music and keep ownership and copyright of it and you get the permission to use it for your videos, film or small multimedia productions, as long as you credit the creator properly. There are many sites out there that house music with Creative Commons licenses, sites where you can download music for free (and legally). Seven Songs for Teaching Past Simple. I have created a list of songs, which are perfect for teaching Past Simple tense in English.
All of the songs are relatively new and popular, so they would especially be suitable for teaching teenagers. While the primary goal would be teaching Past Simple, you can always add a few more exercises in order to work on vocabulary or grammar. Coldplay – Paradise Past Simple is often used for retelling the events that happened in the past. This song is perfect for illustrating this usage. Singing feels much less threatening to many who are learning a new language. Karaoke is a good language-development activity, and there are quite a few karaoke sites on the Internet. I thought it would be a good topic for a short “The Best…” list. In order to make it on this list, a site has to be available free-of-charge (or at least some of its resources have to be free), easy-to-use, require no download, and allow students — either alone or in a group — to record themselves singing.
A link to their performance can then be posted on a student or teacher website. There are only a few sites that meet that criteria. SMS Tunes is another similar site. Sing Snap is the newest addition to this list. KaraSongs doesn’t allow students to record themselves, but they have tons of great videos showing the lyrics to popular songs with instrumental accompaniment.
