It’s a familiar topic that keeps rearing its ugly head during divorce. It seems yet another person is capable of opening their mouth to voice their particular thoughts on divorce. Now, I can’t place more emphasis on the fact that these misguided people simply have no clue what divorce really is. I can’t imagine if they truly did, that they would believe extolling their personal judgements on an already suffering and weakened human being would be the right thing to do.

The Affordable Care Act (ACA) ushered in a whole new world for people who need individual insurance.

6 Tips for Buying Individual Health Insurance

Before the ACA, you could be denied insurance because of a pre-existing condition—even something as minor as acne. Your premiums and deductibles were determined based on your health and gender. In addition, few plans offered maternity care or mental health services, and there was no guarantee your plan would be renewed each year. Under the ACA, however, much of that changed. Today, plans offered on the individual insurance exchanges are “guaranteed issue,” meaning insurance companies can’t discriminate against you because of a pre-existing condition or your gender.

The more precious the metal, the higher the premiums and the lower the out-of-pocket costs, like copayments and deductibles. Although studies find that we tend to choose health insurance based on the monthly premium, that should be just one component in your decision. To ensure you have the right health insurance for you, consider the following questions. How much have I spent out of pocket this year?
