I never liked Train much until I heard ‘Hey Soul Sister’ – this song though … it’s awesome! Out of every list that I took a look at for this post, this was always number 1 on the wedding songs for 2011 chart toppers. After listening to it, I have to say that this might be my wedding song! It’s so touching, the lyrics are awesome and … it’s beautiful. Bruno Mars is the guy to have at your wedding this year! I have to admit though, I didn’t hear this song until it was covered on Glee.

Even in an era when rappers rarely share studios with their collaborators, emailing in their contributions instead, the art of the guest verse is alive and well. It’s still a point of pride for one rapper to swoop in and steal a track’s spotlight away from another. And that sense of friendly competition is still one of the things that makes rap so fun to talk about; we rarely agree on who won what.
