As everybody knows, salt water and electronics do not match. When I got back to Perth, I sent the camera into Canon NSW for repairs along with my Canon 17-85mm Lens. Canon reported to me that the lens could be repaired, but the cost of repairs to the 40D body would exceed the cost of a new unit. I opted to get a new 40D body on insurance (Thanks RAC). Several weeks later I recieved my new 40D body from RAC. Early March 2009, I recieved the dead 40D body from Canon via Courier. I decided because the cost of repairs ($1700) was too great to repairs, I would disect the camera and document it for anyone that is interested.
