Magnetic Googly Eyes: For the Benefit of All Mankind - Evil Mad Scientist Laboratories

http://www.evilmadscientist.com/article.php/maggoogly A circle cutter marketed for foam board that we tried works fine for marking the surface of the magnet. The outer plastic circle requires a large area of material to rest on for cutting, but the tool can cut through the magnet with some effort. You'll find more pictures in this flickr set . You can put your own googly eye pictures in the Evil Mad Science Auxiliary . Flotspotting: Jose Hurtado's Tandem with a Twist - Core77

http://www.core77.com/blog/flotspotting/flotspotting_jose_hurtados_tandem_with_a_twist_21588.asp Spanish designer José Hurtado started out as an architect before shifting his focus to industrial design. Among the projects in his newly-launched portfolio, one project in particular jumped out: the "Twist" bicycle concept . Twist [is] not just a bike, [it] is a union between people. Sometimes a change of direction in your life helps you to find yourself.
Where the City Bike was stripped down in terms of functionality—by gutting the drivetrain and axing those pesky triangles for a more minimal frame—to arrive at a rather unconventional (and uncomfortable-looking) concept bicycle, the "Moto Undone" is more of an exercise in aesthetics, the result of "ignoring what makes motorcycles interesting." At jruiter I.D., we want to re-set the definition of a motorbike, stripping away historical attributes that make them so great. It's hard to imagine a motorcycle without fancy paint, overpowered motors, exposed mechanical genius, and sweet exhaust tones. Still, contrary to Jruiter's best intentions to create "pure generic transportation" and create an "invisible" machine—one that he cheekily characterizes as "not very cool"—the "Moto Undone" is definitely a sweet ride. The motorbike references are small and when someone is riding they are all you see. http://core77.com/blog/transportation/joey_ruiter_outdoes_himself_with_moto_undone__20465.asp

Joey Ruiter Outdoes Himself with "Moto Undone" - Core77

The Boxx Scooter Gets Ready to Roll - Core77

Though not as relentlessly rectilinear as Joey Ruiter's wicked Moto Undone motorcycle, designer Eric Vaughn's Boxx scooter is an innovative transportation design with a similarly unconventional shape. Portland- based Vaughn, who has until now stuck with leaking a slow trickle of press images, finally debuted the Boxx to the public at this week's Portland International Auto Show. What makes the Boxx so unique is how an often overlooked element of the vehicle—its initial distribution to consumers—has directly informed its physical design. http://www.core77.com/blog/transportation/the_boxx_scooter_gets_ready_to_roll_21633.asp

Blackfly by - NFB

This animated film about the pesky blackfly is based on the song of the same title, written and sung by Canadian folk singer Wade Hemsworth, with back-up vocals by the McGarrigle sisters. It recounts Hemsworth's battles with this quintessential "critter" during a summer of surveying in Northern Ontario. http://www.nfb.ca/film/blackfly/

The Big Snit by - NFB

This poignant and hilarious animated film perfectly captures the intersection of a domestic quarrel and a global nuclear war. An Oscar® nominee enjoyed by millions of fans, this film is a classic example of Richard Condie's off-the-wall humour.
Where were you in 1996? If you were in cyberspace , surfing the World Wide Web, chances are you were waiting a long time for pages to load, laughing at the first Internet meme and suffering through some god-awful graphics. My, how times have changed! While some of you weren’t even born yet, I was working on the web back then, and it certainly did feel different from today. Most comments came via email, servers were rickety and crash-prone, and even though HTML coding was a lot simpler, it still took a lot of patience to get things done.

Internet of Yesterday & Today: 1996 vs. 2011 [INFOGRAPHIC]

I was able to spend eight months conceiving and working on this game because of all the generous people who bought downloads of Sleep is Death . The graphics were made with mtPaint . The SDL library provides cross-platform screen, sound, and user input. libpng and zlib enable PNG output. MinGW was used to build the game for Windows. I am deeply indebted to the following testers who invested hundreds of hours plumbing the depths of this infinite beastie and took the time to send me feedback:
