Magnetic Googly Eyes: For the Benefit of All Mankind

http://www.evilmadscientist.com/article.php/maggoogly Make repositionable googly eyes with sticky-backed rubber magnets, or promotional magnets and a drop of glue. A hole punch works great–it’s the easiest, fastest, best way to get little circles of magnets. For larger circles, we tried a razor blade circle cutter. It leaves a mark in the center of the cutout, but can cut the edge neatly. A circle cutter marketed for foam board that we tried works fine for marking the surface of the magnet.

Flotspotting: Jose Hurtado's Tandem with a Twist

http://www.core77.com/blog/flotspotting/flotspotting_jose_hurtados_tandem_with_a_twist_21588.asp Posted by Ray | 20 Jan 2012 | Comments (15) Spanish designer José Hurtado started out as an architect before shifting his focus to industrial design. Among the projects in his newly-launched portfolio, one project in particular jumped out: the "Twist" bicycle concept . Twist [is] not just a bike, [it] is a union between people.
Posted by Ray | 8 Sep 2011 | Comments (23) Joey Ruiter (a.k.a. Jruiter) of " Super Minimal City Bike " fame is back with another uniquely reimagined transportation concept. Where the City Bike was stripped down in terms of functionality—by gutting the drivetrain and axing those pesky triangles for a more minimal frame—to arrive at a rather unconventional (and uncomfortable-looking) concept bicycle, the "Moto Undone" is more of an exercise in aesthetics, the result of "ignoring what makes motorcycles interesting." At jruiter I.D., we want to re-set the definition of a motorbike, stripping away historical attributes that make them so great. http://core77.com/blog/transportation/joey_ruiter_outdoes_himself_with_moto_undone__20465.asp

Joey Ruiter Outdoes Himself with "Moto Undone"

The Boxx Scooter Gets Ready to Roll

Posted by hipstomp | 26 Jan 2012 | Comments (4) Though not as relentlessly rectilinear as Joey Ruiter's wicked Moto Undone motorcycle, designer Eric Vaughn's Boxx scooter is an innovative transportation design with a similarly unconventional shape. Portland- based Vaughn, who has until now stuck with leaking a slow trickle of press images, finally debuted the Boxx to the public at this week's Portland International Auto Show. http://www.core77.com/blog/transportation/the_boxx_scooter_gets_ready_to_roll_21633.asp

Where were you in 1996? If you were in cyberspace , surfing the World Wide Web, chances are you were waiting a long time for pages to load, laughing at the first Internet meme and suffering through some god-awful graphics. My, how times have changed! While some of you weren't even born yet, I was working on the web back then, and it certainly did feel different from today. Most comments came via email, servers were rickety and crash-prone, and even though HTML coding was a lot simpler, it still took a lot of patience to get things done.

--cameramail cameras--

First, a brief introduction to cameramail. The idea is not completely original, I'm sorry to admit. While working on a mail-art project for school, I saw Daniel Farrell and Richard Kegler of the website P22 document an impressive number of odd forms of correspondence between their two addresses in upstate New York. http://kvh.threebunnypress.com/projects/cameramail.html

Yes, Those People Are Literally Kissing, On The Ground, In The Street, Amid A Riot : The Picture Show

http://www.npr.org/blogs/pictureshow/2011/06/17/137221886/yes-those-people-are-literally-kissing-on-the-ground-in-the-street-amid-a-riot This image has gone viral around the web — and has spawned an increasingly vociferous debate about what's really going on in this scene, captured during the Vancouver riots after the Canucks' loss to Boston in Game 7 of the Stanley Cup finals. Rich Lam / Getty Images "I'm not sure what exactly was going on," photographer Rich Lam says on the phone. "I just saw these two people and I thought they were hurt. ... I didn't really know what I got until the editor pointed it out."
