I have found that first-timer find social media confusing because of two reasons.
The first reason is the excessive focus on specific social media tools. Many first-timers are introduced to social media via specific tools. Many ‘social media experts’ who are practitioners rather than thinkers also focus on specific tools. Since social media encompasses many different types of tools, and each tool has specific characteristics and a steep learning curve, a toolkit approach can quickly become overwhelming. This article is inspired by an earlier featured article by Rikki Tholstrup – “A Life Apart”, who touched upon the topic of the perfect perception that we are creating for ourselves via social media. I, like most modern-day people have various social media accounts. I stay active on the majority of them and I have a community around me. I have some professional interests about which I write. I follow like-minded people, read their articles and I look for news specifically oriented towards my interest. So if you follow me, you’ll get a heap of information regarding one or two, maximum three subjects. Rather one-sided isn’t it? And, sadly it’s not just me.
Quite limiting, isn’t it? I highly doubt that there is such a person in existence that has only one or two, maximum tree topics of interest, and that that is the reason for them to post, tweet and share links and articles only on that matter. So what is the solution for this phenomenon? What do you think? Google Plus Search and Google Authorship Case Study. The Question How does Google+ and Authorship Influence Search Engine Rankings? Background In a recent post on YouMoz , I discussed the rankings success and traffic increase that my brand new site received immediately after implementing Google Authorship on the Jeffalytics blog.
My conclusion was that Google Authorship was the root cause of the success, because the site received a sudden increase in traffic shortly after I implemented Google Authorship on the site. The truth is that there were too many variables to be considered in that experiment, so further experimentation is needed for the results to be more conclusive. Gartner Research is reporting mobile CRM apps will grow 500 percent by 2014, another sign of a shifting market that has more to do with work getting done in the cloud more so than from a server behind the firewall.
This is buttressed by Gartner’s news that SaaS providers will represent more than 50 percent of profits in the CRM market by 2016 and the steep decline in PC shipments that Gartner reported yesterday. Gartner reports there are 200 apps now in app stores. By 2014, there will be 1,200. Mobile apps will come in a variety of flavors, attacking specific aspects of the CRM experience. Gartner, citing a CIO survey of more than 2,000 people, predicts that vendors will need to build mobile apps around their specific strengths. Gartner also reported that Salesforce.com remains the No. 1 CRM vendor with 26 percent growth and $2.5 billion in revenue last year. The rise of mobile apps comes with a decline in PC shipments. Mobile’s rise also reflects the growing momentum for SaaS.
