http://www.unep.org/ Strengthening the ability of individuals, communities and nations to adapt to climate change, move towards low-carbon societies, improve understanding of climate science, and raise public awareness about the Earth's changing climate. The globally averaged mixing ratios of carbon dioxide (CO 2 ), methane (CH 4 ) and nitrous oxide (N 2 O) reached new heights in 2009. These values are greater than those in pre-industrial times (before 1750) by 38 per cent, 158 per cent and 19 per cent, respectively. In 2009, as other economic sectors declined around the world, existing renewable capacity continued to grow at rates close to previous years, including grid-connected solar PV (53 per cent), wind power (32 per cent), solar hot water/heating (21 per cent), geothermal power (4 per cent), and hydropower (3 per cent).

WELCOME to UN CC:Learn | UNCC:LEARN

UN CC:Learn is a partnership of 23 UN agencies launched in 2009 to offer services to Member States, UN agencies and other development parties interested in designing and delivering effective, results-oriented and sustainable learning on climate change. CC:Learn is included in the "One UN Climate Change Action Framework" of the UN System Chief Executives Board for Coordination through its capacity development group co-convened by UNDP and UNEP, with core funding provided in 2011-2013 by the Swiss Development Cooperation.
Five focus Areas and Four Cross-Cutting Areas have been identified in response to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change negotiation process and in pursuance of the broader mandates and capacities in the United Nations system, with corresponding convening agencies to ensure better coordination of concrete deliverables as follows: Increased Synergies. Programmatic work at the headquarters level through the High-level Committee on Programmes (HLCP) is connected to United Nations system activities at the country level through the United Nations Development Group (UNDG) and the individual United Nations country teams.
