I’m so thrilled to be here at sfgirlbybay as part of the Weekend Handmade blog tour – Victoria’s site is close to my heart because it was one of the very first blogs I ever read religiously, and of course, it puts my hometown city in the spotlight. Supplies - plastic animalsplastic candle holdersdrill with 1/8″ drill bitpliersgold spray paint For the plastic animals, you can use any kind you can find. Hold the animal with the pliers and drill a hole straight down, being careful not to pop out the other side. Spray paint the animals in a few light coats, rotating them to cover all sides. Designer: Maximo Riera The artist wanted to be faithful to the animal’s physique and the natural majesty of its movements, therefore Maximo attended to each physical detail of the octopus in order to make the animal the unique protagonist of the whole piece. The main reason Maximo Riera chose to create a chair is because it is an everyday object, something taken as common and banal in our lives. “Whilst considering the chair’s basic functionality, I also wanted to bring it alive, make it more present and create a stronger link between the spectator, the piece and the surrounding space,” says the artist. I spotted this idea from minifanfan on Making It Lovely last week and just had to give it my own spin. I purchased my Japanese washi tape from Le Box Boutique on Etsy. There are hundreds of washi tape sellers but I chose Le Box because they allow you to purchase tape by the foot rather than having to purchase the entire roll. They were very easy to interact with and I would definitely recommend them if you’re looking to purchase washi tape! I chose these ten patterns but only ended up using eight of them on my keyboard. The purple and blue patterns looked a bit more opaque than the others when applied to the keys and I’m kind of crazy when it comes to matchy-matchiness.
I first thoroughly cleaned my keyboard with rubbing alcohol to remove any dirt or oil that might keep the tape from sticking. This project was a bit tedious but simple – perfect for a few hours in front of the tv. What do you think? Tagged as: craft, diy, tutorial. Tree house.
