Fashion debate: Why do men like designer clothing?

Gone are the days when men settled for clothing that they were expected and supposed to wear. The modern day male is just as much into fashion as the fashion obsessed woman these days, and why not? Body image: Men suffer too. Last month, ex-Doctor Who star Christopher Eccleston opened up about his experience of anorexia.

Body image: Men suffer too

A lot of people were shocked, but he’s not the only male celebrity who’s had an eating disorder: Dennis Quaid, Billy Bob Thornton and Zayn Malik have all had anorexia; Russell Brand, John Prescott and Elton John have all had bulimia. That’s not even mentioning all of the men who’ve experienced binge eating disorder. So, yes, men get eating disorders too. I did. For me, my anorexia was a diseased coping mechanism. But when I went through therapy, I had to think about body image, because I had to “weight restore”, which is basically a fancy, medical way of saying I had to gain weight. Where Millennials end and Generation Z begins. For decades, Pew Research Center has been committed to measuring public attitudes on key issues and documenting differences in those attitudes across demographic groups.

Where Millennials end and Generation Z begins

One lens often employed by researchers at the Center to understand these differences is that of generation. Generations provide the opportunity to look at Americans both by their place in the life cycle – whether a young adult, a middle-aged parent or a retiree – and by their membership in a cohort of individuals who were born at a similar time. As we’ve examined in past work, generational cohorts give researchers a tool to analyze changes in views over time. They can provide a way to understand how different formative experiences (such as world events and technological, economic and social shifts) interact with the life-cycle and aging process to shape people’s views of the world. Pew Research Center has been studying the Millennial generation for more than a decade. Generational cutoff points aren’t an exact science.
