The degree of a vertex, also called the valence of the vertex, is the number of edges incident to it, i.e., the number of edges that have it as an end point. We want to find out how the sum of the degrees of the vertices in a graph is related to the number of edges in the graph. Java Web Start Activity: Draw a few graphs in the following the Java Web Start application. Check to see that the statistics the application gives you are what you think they should be. http://www.mathcove.net/petersen/lessons/get-lesson?les=2

Graph Theory Lesson 2: Handshaking Lemma

http://kmoddl.library.cornell.edu/tutorials/02/ If an enormously heavy object has to be moved from one spot to another, it may not be practical to move it on wheels. Instead the object is placed on a flat platform that in turn rests on cylindrical rollers (Figure 1) . As the platform is pushed forward, the rollers left behind are picked up and put down in front. An object moved this way over a flat horizontal surface does not bob up and down as it rolls along. The reason is that cylindrical rollers have a circular cross section, and a circle is closed curve "with constant width." What does that mean?

How to be a Programmer: A Short, Comprehensive, and Personal Summary

http://samizdat.mines.edu/howto/HowToBeAProgrammer.html Debugging is the cornerstone of being a programmer. The first meaning of the verb to debug is to remove errors, but the meaning that really matters is to see into the execution of a program by examining it . A programmer that cannot debug effectively is blind.

#1 UC Berkeley Ranked as the #1 public school in the United States, Berkeley offers podcasts and webcasts of amazing professors lecturing. Each course has an RSS feed so you can track each new lecture. For printable assignments and notes you can check the professors homepage, which is usually given in the first lecture or google his name. Even though the notes, homework and tests are not directly printed in the berkeley website, as they are in MIT and other courseware sites, it's not a problem to find them. I personally tried to use it for John Wawrzynek's machine structures class and the nutrition courses.
