Brain Parts Function. The brain is the most complex organ in the body.

Brain Parts Function

It is the organ that allows us to think, have emotions, move, and even dream. Given this complexity, it should not be surprising that there are many ways to separate the parts of the brain. Brain parts can be separated on the basis of what they look like to the naked eye, under a microscope, or by what certain brain parts do. The brain and spinal cord make up the central nervous system and all of the nerves found in our body make up the peripheral nervous system.

When you see a picture of the brain you probably think of a wrinkled gray blob. Having evolved hundreds of millions of years ago, the Hindbrain or the Reptillian Brain is the oldest part of the human brain. The Spinal Cord. Neuroscience Resources. Prisoner's dilemma. The prisoners' dilemma is a canonical example of a game analyzed in game theory that shows why two individuals might not cooperate, even if it appears that it is in their best interests to do so. It was originally framed by Merrill Flood and Melvin Dresher working at RAND in 1950. Albert W. Tucker formalized the game with prison sentence rewards and gave it the name "prisoner's dilemma" (Poundstone, 1992), presenting it as follows: Two members of a criminal gang are arrested and imprisoned. Each prisoner is in solitary confinement with no means of speaking to or exchanging messages with the other. It's implied that the prisoners will have no opportunity to reward or punish their partner other than the prison sentences they get, and that their decision won't affect their reputation in future.

The prisoner's dilemma game can be used as a model for many real world situations involving cooperative behaviour. Strategy for the classic prisoners' dilemma[edit] Brain Parts Function. Resources by Subject. Beautiful Minds: The Einstein Effect. Prospective Students [UCLA Gateway]

In fact, the presence of Odonata species in an area provides an indicator of water quality. Size differentiates damselflies and dragonflies, with dragonflies (suborder Anisoptera), the larger group of the two. Healthy populations mean healthy water. Dragonfly identification, while not as popular as butterfly identification, continues to draw a crowd of enthusiasts.

Odonata identification starts by noting that in addition to size, wing position also helps differentiate dragonflies and damselflies. North American dragonfly identification history extends back to the nineteenth century, the time when most species were documented. Nonetheless, new dragonfly species continue to be recorded, and a changing climate means that some southern species will continue to migrate north to the United States. Skimmers: Libellulidae.
