While many of the files in here are duplicates or very similar to other files in other parts of the site, it seemed appropriate to leave them together, since they do show one person's effort to put together a collective group. The vintage of the files range from the end of the 1990's to the earlier days of the BBS. Before you waste one entire second even considering mixing, creating, or otherwise implementing the instructions in these files, be aware that people have died from some of these very texts, attempting wholescale explosives and dangerous chemical reactions based on some flimsy text file written by god knows who for god knows what. It's just way too easy for someone to have typed a 5 instead of a 4 years and years ago when they were copying out of a badly photocopied pamphlet written by someone entirely different.

Your life is too precious to take such an idiotic risk.

I thought it would make sense to gather all these in one place, as a useful reference for those who are especially interested in the philosophy of mind. The first list below includes the entries classified under "philosophy of mind" in the encyclopedia. Philosophy Research Base. Philosophy Timeline.

Bertrand Russell: Has religion made useful contributions to civilization

Table of Contents:Christianity and SexThe Objections to ReligionThe Soul and ImmortalitySources of IntoleranceThe Doctrine of Free WillThe Idea of Righteousness My own view on religion is that of Lucretius. I regard it as a disease born of fear and as a source of untold misery to the human race. I cannot, however, deny that it has made some contributions to civilization. The word religion is used nowadays in a very loose sense. What is true of Christianity is equally true of Buddhism. There is nothing accidental about this difference between a church and its founder. Christianity and Sex The worst feature of the Christian religion, however, is its attitude toward sex - an attitude so morbid and so unnatural that it can be understood only when taken in relation to the sickness of the civilized world at the time the Roman Empire was decaying.

For example, "Von Daniken's books about ancient astronauts are worthless because he is a convicted forger and embezzler. " (Which is true, but that's not why they're worthless.) Another example is this syllogism, which alludes to Alan Turing's homosexuality: Turing thinks machines think. Turing lies with men.
