Shooting exclusively in black and white, Lee Jeffries’ 135+ pictures can be viewed in his Flickr Photostream. The majority are closeup portraits with incredible detail. Each photograph exudes so much raw character and depth, you find yourself studying each shot with great intensity. Lee Jeffries lives in Manchester in the United Kingdom. Silhouette with Matches Caleb Charland demonstrates lessons in physics and mathematics with his mind-blowing photography. Inspired by children's books of science experiments, he photographs everyday objects (like matches, pens and mirrors) in ways we've never imagined, often using multiple exposures to tell the story. For example, in Fifteen Hours, the last photo in this set, Charland used 15 exposures to show how the flame of a dinner candle beautifully burns down. In still others, like in Cube with Rule and Penlight, Caleb Charland sits in pitch black darkness and, with a penlight in his hand, traces the shape of a cube along a ruler. Though at first glance, you think you're just looking at a box, you soon notice that the mysterious shadows are Charland's hands.
Charland made 13 exposures on one sheet of 4×5 film; twelve exposures for each side of the cube, and one exposure with the light on to fill in the shapes of the room and the table. Cube with Ruler and Penlight Atomic Model.

Puyehue volcano erupted for the first time in half a century on June 4, 2011, prompting evacuations for 3,500 people as it sent a cloud of ash that reached Argentina. The National Service of Geology and Mining said the explosion that sparked the eruption also produced a column of gas 10 kilometers (six miles) high, hours after warning of strong seismic activity in the area.
SCH27. SCH16. SCH22. SCH05. Built to kill - 40 breathtaking closeup photographs of animals. Built to kill – 40 breathtaking closeup photographs of animals Posted by Richie on Wednesday, June 2, 2010 · 93 Comments Wildlife photography is regarded as being one of the most challenging forms of photography. It involves a thorough understanding of the behavior of animals and in addition to it, one needs to have sound technical skills, such as being able to expose in the right manner. Its all about being in the right place at the right time.
Surprisingly enough, photographing some species may require stalking skills or the use of a camouflage as well. Whilst wildlife photographs can be taken using basic equipment, successful photography of some types of wildlife requires specialist equipment, such as macro lenses for insects, long focal length lenses for birds and underwater cameras for marine life. However, since the advent of digital cameras and the never ending quest for adventures, this practice has evolved into totally new heights. 1) Gannet Dive by mvbalkom 5) Parotsnake by kuntha.

The Norwegian photographer and videographer, whose work has been published in National Geographic, Reuters, the Washington Post and elsewhere, is probably best known for his mind-blowing photographs of the Eyjafjallajokull volcano that erupted in Iceland in 2010, disrupting air travel between North America and Europe for nearly a week.
Terje Sorgjerd has a talent for videography and time-lapse photography as well; his video "The Aurora," recorded over the span of a week in the Kirkenes and Pas National Park bordering Russia, captured the ripple of the Aurora Borealis. On April 4, Sorgjerd set out to capture the Milky Way with the same vividness as the Aurora. Shooting from El Teide, Spain´s highest peak, the result was "The Mountain:" The goal was to capture the beautiful Milky Way galaxy along with one of the most amazing mountains I know, El Teide.
