L'Institut de recherche Scripps (en anglais The Scripps Research Institute, TSRI) est un centre de recherche biomédicale américain, spécialisé dans la recherche en biologie et chimie. Histoire[modifier | modifier le code] Les racines du TSRI remontent à la Scripps Metabolic Clinic, fondée près du site actuel en 1924 par la philanthrope Ellen Browning Scripps. Structure[modifier | modifier le code] Le campus californien occupe quatorze hectares entre la réserve naturelle de Torrey Pines et l'université de Californie à San Diego à La Jolla. Jeudi 1er septembre 2016, les premiers scientifiques ont pris possession des locaux fraîchement achevés de l’Institut Francis Crick, le plus grand laboratoire de biomédecine d’Europe. Ce centre de recherche s’élevant dans le ciel de Londres sur huit étages et s’enfonçant de quatre niveaux dans ses entrailles accueillera jusqu’à 1 500 personnes, dont 1 250 scientifiques. Les chercheurs de l’Institut Francis Crick s’y emploieront notamment à explorer le développement des maladies, dans l’espoir de mieux traiter les cancers, maladies cardiaques, infections et maladies cérébrales.
