We're Obsessed With This Easy DIY Artwork Project (& You'll Be, Too!) UPDATE: The long weekend is the perfect time to start some new projects, so why not try this awesome (and so easy) artwork DIY?

We're Obsessed With This Easy DIY Artwork Project (& You'll Be, Too!)

This story was originally published on July 25. If there are two things that have been commanding our attention lately, they're cool artwork and chevron prints. So, we were obviously pretty stoked to find a way to incorporate both — for cheap! — in an amazing DIY project for your apartment. Inspired by the work of artist Nancy Ramirez, two stellar Refinery29 interns collaborated on this easy-does-it way to spice up an empty wall. From the moment we spied this Nancy Ramirez painting on Pinterest, we were smitten. Assemble your paints and squeeze a quarter-size amount of each color onto your palette. To incorporate all of our colors, we used one at a time, rinsing our brush between each and blending until we covered the canvas. Once you've covered the canvas, let it dry for a few minutes.

Et voilà! Photographed by Maia Schoenfelder. Photo coasters. Last Christmas I almost had a breakdown...

Photo coasters

We had just moved in to our home the month before, but I didn't want to let that prevent us from having the holliest jolliest Christmas. My intentions were good. I wanted to make Christmas special for everyone, but I learned the hard way that I should have been planning ahead!! And that's how it happened.

Book Shelves. Bangle. Here's a fun tutorial on how to make a message bangle that's one-of-a-kind, done in the sun, waterproof and weatherproof.

Bangle

Even after several trips to the beach, it won't fade or wash off! Essentially, it's the Perfect Summer Bangle. Used in this tutorial: Inkodye Red Prepare. All you'll need for this project is a raw wooden bangle (we got ours from DIYBangles.com), a black paint marker, plastic wrap, and some Inkodye! Transcribe. Perfect. Pour. Brush. Wipe. Wrap. Tape. Teacup Lights. Metal Necklaces. I have the blessing to be part of a great organization inside of the church I belong to; called Young Women.

Metal Necklaces

The theme for the girls {age 12 to 17} this year is “believe”. I’ve been thinking a lot during the last six months about such a simple word and what it means to me… However it was during this weekend that I found myself thinking more deeply about it while working on these little necklaces that I was making for our girls… So please forgive me if you came visiting looking for a craft or just a cool tutorial because I am afraid that today what you are getting instead is a piece of my heart… These are the tools I used to make the necklaces: My sweet friend Bonnie’s Steel Stamping Set, Hammer {the poor thing has seen better days}, Sharpie and a cleaning rag. Materials Your choice size washers.

Jar stensils. I love mason jars.

Jar stensils

I know everyone loves mason jars right now, but that's okay, I love them anyway. I've been using them for years to store buttons and ribbon and dry beans, and we used them at our wedding as flower vases with lace tied around the top. They are just so lovely. Here are some fantastic things on Etsy right now that are mason jar-related:

Dolies Lampshade. Garding blocks. Jar candles. There are just too many fun uses for these jars.

Jar candles

My stash is ever growing, as I can’t seem to make it through Walmart without picking up a case. They’re just such a cheap investment. Craig thinks I’m nuts. BUT in my defense, I do plan on putting these beautiful little treasures to use. From canning homemade salsa (have I mentioned that I planted a garden.. oh no, not the one you’re thinking of, that one died. So, I’ve scoured Pinterest, several blogs and Etsy to find some of the best uses and cutest ideas.

I love the idea of mason jar candles. Look at these clever Save The Date’s. MMM. Instead of serving cans of soda, serve pint jars of lemonade and or sweet tea. I NEED these dish towels! Everyone is loving the mason jar chandeliers right now. This screen printed t-shirt is great. While everyone is raving over the chandeliers pictured above, myself included, I am obsessing over this Sconce! Mason Jars as centerpieces? HELLO! AND my favorite! #kristanlynn xoxo.
