I really like this grater. I have used it a couple of times to grate fresh ginger, but I have not tried it grating cheese. Perhaps I will edit this when I do use it that way. For grating ginger, it did a great job, finely grating until my little piece of ginger was gone. The grater is decorative enough for me to leave out on my counter, which I do. I just run it through the dishwasher when I use it.
