Cake batter blondies. I don’t say this very often.

cake batter blondies.

But this is one of the most delicious things I’ve ever eaten. Remember how I made dense, fudgy brownies by using a boxed chocolate cake mix? Well, let’s just say that I haven’t been able to stop imagining doing the same with a yellow cake mix ever since. I thought, if this method can get me to actually love chocolate, how insanely good would a cake version be?? So, chocolate-lovers, this isn’t entirely for you. Red Velvet Crêpes. I rolled my eyes at the red velvet cake trend, but now I can’t get enough.

Red Velvet Crêpes

I’ll make any excuse to have ‘cake’ for breakfast– here’s my take on a classic. Red Velvet Crepes (Makes about 24, 8″ crepes) Bio-hazard! Dexter Blood Slide Suckers: Eat With Caution! Bio-hazard!

Bio-hazard! Dexter Blood Slide Suckers: Eat With Caution!

Dexter Blood Slide Suckers: Eat With Caution! You know what’s really scary? Ghosts and vampires? Not really; they don’t exist. What really freaks me out is plagues, pestilence, serial killers, bio-hazards! I spent the last week thinking about the Martha Stewart lollipops, and how they could be made more scary. For any of you who aren’t familiar with the show, Dexter is about a serial killer of the same name, who works by day as a forensic analyst for the Miami police department, and by night, cleansing the city of the evil criminals who slip through the cracks of our faulty judicial system.

For this years gruesome Halloween treat, I decided to create a trophy case of my own. Biohazard Blood Slides 1 cup sugar1/3 cup light corn syrup2 Tbs waterred food dyebamboo skewer or tooth pic. It didn’t take me too long to decide on the other option because everyone in my family loves chocolate. I decided immediately to pair the chocolate with luscious caramel. I also wanted to add a few different textures and flavours. I present to you pure indulgence, Chocolate-Caramel Tart – crispy, hazelnut sweet short pastry with four layers of goodness – caramel, toasted hazelnuts, dark and milk chocolate ganache, and milk chocolate glaze. I could have stopped with the dark and milk chocolate ganache layer but the chocolate lover in me took over. Wow! The classical pairing of chocolate and caramel is one of my favourites but adding toasted nuts brings any dessert to another level for me.

I wish the kids enjoyed the pairing as much as I do. Comments (57) Red Velvet Rice Krispies Treats Hearts for Valentine’s Day. You may have noticed I share a lot of Rice Krispies Treats, especially around the holiday.

Can you blame me though? They’re sweet, gooey and oh-so-good! And these red velvet treats are to die for! Had it not been for my kiddos little sweet happy fingers, I wouldn’t have found the restraint to not eat them all. If you’re making these to just eat, no need to get fancy but if you’re making them for a special occasion like Valentine’s Day, you’ll want to check out Wilton’s selection of cookie cutters. In a small jelly roll pan you can press the treats thin enough to cut with the heart shaped cutters. With a piping bag (or plastic sandwich bag) you can frost these with pretty designs in a cream cheese frosting that makes them even sweeter. Share ‘em, eat ‘em, whatever you do, don’t leave them unattended and expect to find anything left but crumbs left over. Strawberry Torte. Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Truffles. I’ve never liked chocolate chip cookies.

Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Truffles

Go ahead and throw tomatoes at me if you’d like, but I don’t like ’em. They’re just a plain old cookie, after all, with a few studs of chocolate chips in them. They’re nothing special to me, unless you get some cookie dough-action before it meets its fate in the oven.
