http://www.whorange.net/whorange/2009/06/banksy-versus-bristol-museum.html a few years ago i attended an uh-mazing banksy exhibition in downtown los angeles and have been eagerly awaiting the elusive graffiti artist's return. alas, mr. bansky choose instead to set up his latest wares in new york and bristol . on june 13th, banksy's largest exhibition entitled " banksy versus bristol museum " was unveiled at the bristol city museum. it features more than 100 of banksy's works mixed amongst the museum's permanent collection (including a mouse with a backpack tucked inside of a natural history case. someone, please send me a picture! check out the mouse here . thanks, matt, more the picture!).
http://www.whorange.net/whorange/2009/07/banksy-versus-bristol-museum-part-2.html after mentioning the " bansky versus bristol museum " exhibition last month, i got a message from my darling friend, mr. matt, who happened to be whoranging over in england at the time. eager to see a little bansky in the flesh, he hopped on over to bristol, with camera phone in hand, and stood in the ginormous queue. luckily for us, mr. matt snapped a few fabulous shots exclusively for WHORANGE. he even captured the coveted "mouse with backpack" that i wanted to see so desperately. it's tucked away inside of the natural history exhibit...

http://24flinching.com/word/featured/the-book-surgeon/ Every now and then I cross paths with an artist who had refined a process so intense that it blow the cap off my skull. Check out the absolutely incredible sculpted book-work of Brian Dettmer . It may take you a few moments to orient yourself but once you do you will see one of the most implausibly crafted works of art created from existing material you have ever seen. The process is described quite simply. A book is chosen, nothing is added and only chunks of pages are removed.

If you are interested in one cut-leaf which is already sold, you may let me know and I could try to make a replica of it, as long as you take into account that each piece is unique (before and after being cut), so I could not commit to make an exact copy of any one. http://naturayarte.blogspot.com/

Drowning Beautiful |

http://24flinching.com/word/featured/drowning-beautiful/ Sometimes an artist creates something so beautifully simple that it takes your breath away…. literally. (hack line – couldn’t help it) Artist Jason de Caires Taylor creates life-size cement sculptures of people and submerges them into the waters of South America. As time passes the sculptures become part of the underwater landscape and slowly become artificial reefs ripe with marine life. The process of experiencing artwork out of a traditional gallery and underwater is described with intimately vivid detail on his site .
http://www.beautifullife.info/art-works/stunning-steampunk-sculptures-by-pierre-matter/ Today we want to make a present to steampunk lovers. This post will show quite complicated but stunning sculptures in steampunk style created by French artist Pierre Matter . His amazing sculptures are made of copper, bronze, brass, steel, stainless steel.

30 of the World's Greatest Wedding Cakes

Few things are more important on a wedding day (apart from both partners turning up; the ring being secure; and nobody objecting during the ceremony) than the cake. Very few weddings are without such a centrepiece. It's just a shame that so many couples opt for the same traditional, boring designs when there is so much opportunity to impress and surprise the guests. Beijing-based Qi Xinghua (aka: Michael Qi) is a home grown example of the medium done well. Take a look at a sampling of his work below. a 52-pose tribute to MICHAEL JACKSON, portrait work from beijing-based creative JIE MEI /// See below for a tribute to Michael Jackson from Beijing-based creator Jie Mei, a huge MJ fan.

Julian Beever , Kurt Wenner and Tracy Lee Stum are artist who have been creating trompe-l’œil chalk drawings on pavement surfaces since the early-1990s. Trompe-l’œil is the art technique involving extremely realistic imagery in order to create the optical illusion that the depicted objects appear in three dimensions. They use a projection technique called anamorphosis to create the illusion of three dimensions when viewed from the correct angle. It is often possible to position a person within the image as if they were interacting with the scene. Personally I’m amazed by this type of art and I hope you will well inspired and impressed as well.

Alexa Meade is a 23 year old D.C. based artist who is developing an aesthetic that is playfully and skillfully combing paint, portraiture, photography and performance. The finalized work is one that is beautifully engaging, temporary and colorfully alive. The initial experience feels a touch kitchy with it’s aesthetic trickery but once past understanding the illusion the work is quite alluring. Make sure you check out the video that illustrates the painting process and how the personality and background of the model is integrated into the creative process. All encompassing, kicking ass, taking names. Cornerstore Camouflage Resistance
