Appetizer Recipe: Atomic Buffalo Turds - BBQ Addicts - BBQ Blog. Cooking up a barbecue feast for your friends and family can (and will) be an all day affair. Depending on the size of your cut, briskets and pork butts can take every bit of 18 hours to slow smoke to perfection. As much as I like starving myself all day in anticipation of the gluttony that’s soon to come, my willpower tends to falter somewhere around the noon hour. Since the smoker is already chugging away, there’s no need to power up the oven for that well deserved mid-day snack. Instead, I prefer to toss in a few stuffed jalapeno peppers…especially the ones dubbed “Atomic Buffalo Turds”!!! These smokey treats are really easy to prepare, and you may even have most of the ingredients hanging out in your fridge already: 12 fresh jalapeno peppers 12 slices of bacon 24 little smokies 1 package of cream cheese (room temperature) 2 tsp paprika 1 tsp cayenne pepperSweet barbecue rub To start the construction of the atomic buffalo turds, you’ll first want to wash and trim the jalapeno peppers.

They love it, as most kids do. I guess I have an affection for it too, but we don't indulge too often. If I had to choose a favorite pizza, it would be the Hawaiian, but no one else in my household appreciates its flavors like I do, too bad for them. So when my kids came home from school and I had this afternoon snack waiting for them, they were pretty excited to be having pizza at 3 PM. Okay, so was I, can you blame me? These are the simplest, yummiest little bites. If you have a mini muffin pan you are good to go.

When Intelligentsia Coffee opened in Pasadena recently, I was intrigued the lasagna cupcakes they served.

The cupcakes are made by Heirloom LA, a catering business. About the size of a muffin, a single lasagna cupcake was a delicious meal. After seeing how much my daughter enjoyed them (she ate my entire cupcake and I had to order a second one), I decided I had to try making them at home. After a bit of research, here is my method. The girls love them and take them to school as lunch. The ingredients are fairly simple. Spray or wipe the cupcake tin with olive oil for prevent sticking and add a little flavor. Once you filled in the first layer, gently press another wrapper in, forming another cup. Once you've placed the second wrapper, repeat the filling as you see fit. A bit of Mozzarella cheese on top of it all. I baked them for 20 minutes at 375° F and then come out perfectly browned. You can do pretty much anything you want as filling from more meats to a vegan version. Pepperoni Pizza Monkey Bread.

How do you make bread even better? You stuff it with pepperoni and cheese. Then, you bake it in a bundt pan that allows you to pull off little chunks and dip them in pizza sauce. This is the perfect thing to bring to a party (and I did, where it disappeared quickly!) Or to eat during a football game. Or, make it for dinner and serve with a salad. It's basically pizza, heavy on the crust...right?! This bread takes a little bit of time to prepare, but in about half an hour I had filled my bundt pan with little dough balls, each with a piece of pepperoni and cheese stuffed within it. My new definition of bliss: warm dough with a cheesy center and a bite of pepperoni. Bang Bang Shrimp. Time for another delicious football snack! This one would be good for a nice dinner too though! So this is supposed to be like the Bonefish dish with the same name but I’ve never had the dish so I can’t really say how close it is to the real thing. I can, however, say that it is amazing. Not going to lie, it was quite a bit of work because you have to deep fry the shrimp but seriously worth all the time spent staring into the pot of oil. Ingredients 1 lb. medium shrimp, peeled and deveined For the sauce: ½ cup mayonnaise 4-5 teaspoons chili garlic sauce, such as Sriracha sauce 1 teaspoon granulated sugar 1 teaspoon rice vinegar For the egg mixture: 1 egg, beaten 1 cup milk For the breading mixture: ½ cup all-purpose flour ½ cup panko breadcrumbs 1 teaspoon salt ½ teaspoon ground black pepper ¼ teaspoon onion powder ¼ teaspoon garlic powder ¼ teaspoon dried basil For frying: 8 to 12 cups vegetable oil Instructions Combine all ingredients for the sauce in a small bowl; cover and set aside.

Cheddar Bacon Ranch Pulls. A few weeks ago I shared my recipe for Cinnamon Roll Pulls, a sweet pull apart bread. In the post I mentioned a savory cheesy version. I had several requests for the cheesy bread recipe. Well, you asked for it, you got it! I went with a cheddar bacon ranch bread. Cheddar Bacon Ranch Pulls (a.k.a. 1 unsliced loaf of (round is preferable) sourdough bread 8-12 oz cheddar cheese, thinly sliced 3 oz bag Oscar Mayer Real Bacon bits 1/2 cup butter, melted 1 Tbsp Ranch dressing mix Using a sharp bread knife cut the bread going both directions. Recipe: buffalo chicken ring. I love all things made with Frank’s Red Hot (or any hot sauce, really.

But especially Frank’s Red Hot) I also love cheese. And crescent rolls. And ranch dressing. So this recipe? First, you make a funky circle-type thing with the crescent rolls. Then chop some celery. Then mix some cream cheese with half a packet of ranch dressing mix (more if you’d like, but half is probably plenty) Next is the chicken. And then: HOT SAUCE. Mix it all together: the cream cheese mixture, the chicken, the celery, and the hot sauce. Now comes the art portion of our project. Then slowly go around the circle, wrapping the chicken mixture in the dough. (It doesn’t have to look this pretty. Bake it for 15-20 minutes at 375 degrees or until the crescent rolls are starting to brown. Now here is where I caution you: LET IT SIT FOR A LITTLE WHILE AND COOL BEFORE MOVING IT.

Serve the chicken ring with ranch and hot sauce for dipping. Pig Candy! How can you possibly go wrong with peppered bacon coated with dark brownsugar, baked, then glazed with pure maple syrup mixed with a little cayenne? Yeah, it's naughty good. The great folks at Burger's Smokehouse sent me some of their "crazy thick" (1/4") dry-cured bacon to try, so I thought I'd give it a proper treatment. Right out of the gate, let me say that this bacon is outstanding! Order some up, and thank me later. I spent about half of my childhood just down the road from them in Columbia, Missouri, so that makes it even more special for me. We have to support our smaller family-owned producers. OK, if you've never made or experienced pig candy, strap yourself in for a serious porcine indulgence.
