Theory of Constraints (TOC) - Strategy Tools from MindTools.com
One approach is to use the Theory of Constraints (TOC). This helps you identify the most important bottleneck in your processes and systems, so that you can deal with it and improve performance. You've likely heard the adage, "A chain is only as strong as its weakest link," and this is what the Theory of Constraints reflects. It was created by Dr.Juan, the most dominant member of your team, immediately makes a suggestion and starts talking about its benefits. Katherine begins arguing with him, claiming that her idea is more efficient. Kerry, who often has brilliant ideas, is too overwhelmed by Juan and Katherine to speak up. You're soon ready to abandon the meeting! If you work in a team, then this scenario may sound familiar. It can be difficult to get a group of people to reach consensus on a decision, especially when personalities, viewpoints, and attitudes clash.

Expressive Intelligence Studio | Games and Playable Media @ UCSC
The Expressive Intelligence Studio at University of California, Santa Cruz is dedicated to exploring the intersection of artificial intelligence, art and design. Our goal is to create compelling new forms of interactive art and entertainment that provide deeply autonomous, generative and dynamic responses to interaction. A major thrust of this work is advanced AI for videogames. This includes autonomous characters, interactive storytelling, automated game asset generation, game data analysis, and intelligent support for game design. By viewing AI as an expressive medium, our work raises and answers new and interesting AI research questions while pushing the boundaries of the conceivable and possible in interactive experiences. The power to make positive changes in society lies in our complex relationship with gaming. There are a lot of problems in the world, from rebellions to earthquakes to education to climate change. The challenges that face our generation and ones to follow are significant. Our networked world, which has exponentially increased our capacity for growth and progress, has also correspondingly increased the impact of this growth on our social and natural systems. Governments and NGOs the world over are scrambling to organize and inspire wholesale change. None of the initiatives, however, be it Copenhagen meetings on climate change or the STEM education initiatives in the U.S., appear to have the good ideas or momentum to spur the foundational societal shifts necessary for a sustainable and prosperous future.Welcome to Serious Games Interactive | Serious Games Interactive
Serious Games Interactive is an award-winning, research-based developer of games, simulations and virtual worlds. We offer a unique blend of competences within games, learning and storytelling. Our focus is to use technology and game mechanics to bring ideas to life in engaging learning solutions. We work with corporations, state agencies, NGOs and other organizations to develop learning experiences that meet their and their end users' specific needs.Creating compelling, immersive games requires understanding, visualizing, demonstrating, and tuning the interactions of an ever-increasing number of game tools and systems. While game designers need to understand and exploit the possibilities of new technologies such as realistic physics, facial expressions, and lighting techniques; they must also continue to master the traditional disciplines of drama, game play, and psychology.

SERIOUS GAME
The Serious Games Initiative is focused on uses for games in exploring management and leadership challenges facing the public sector. Part of its overall charter is to help forge productive links between the electronic game industry and projects involving the use of games in education, training, health, and public policy. We're finally, but slowly, getting some changes going on at our site. Please see the new newswire section where we'll try to compile news in a more regular fashion. We also have launched a channel on YouTube (send us video links to add!), a flickr group (feel free to join and add screenshots), as well as a Slideshare and Delicious channel.
