The next day they go looking for stick-nest rats. At a waterhole they come upon strange tracks that Unaanha believes are the Yamuti's. They follow the tracks and, while sheltering in a cave, they see a white man on a horse. The terrified children think it is a spirit, one of the dead or the Yamuti.
