I am amazed that even after four years the site continues to grow at a rapid pace. 45,000 good looking people now follow Booooooom on Twitter, and our Facebook family has grown to over 74,000! I’m also starting something new in 2012 called the Secret Email Club but I’ll tell you more about it in the new year. A huge high-five to everyone who participated in any of our projects this year. The response to our Remake project was especially insane so I owe a sincere thank you to everyone who shared it (although it crushed our server and nearly brought down our entire site when the MOMA, Walker Art Center, Huffington Post, and several other huge sites all shared it at the same time). King Lear. I wanted to upload this photo of a painting I started working on last July.

Bryan Lewis Saunders is an artist from Washington D.C., not just any artist though. Saunders prefers to take a more unconventional approach to his artwork. Arguably his most interesting project, entitled DRUGS is described as follows: Below, you can view a collection of portraits Saunders drew while under the influence of various substances ranging from cocaine, to marijuana, to DMT. Each portrait is an astonishing look into the mind of someone tweaked out on drugs, something that your eyes will surely appreciate. Abilify / Xanax / Ativan. Recommended Artists & Designers. No clean white walls (instead, they’re plum-colored). No aloof, snotty gallery staff hired for their decorative value (instead, it’s usually owner/director Henry Lien who’ll meet and greet you himself). ("Hotel de Ville" and "The Refinery" by Arnau Alemany) "It used to be that artists suffered for their work. “The gallery is sort of a response to trends that have tyrannized contemporary art in the last 60 years,” says the outspoken Lien. Lien studied semiotics at Brown, worked as a litigator for ten years, and is clearly impassioned about the artists the gallery represents. Shoes with Faces. As part of a generation that grew up surrounded by floppy disks, VHS tapes, polaroids and cassettes, he is inspired by the sociological impact of a new internet culture… …His portraits use a combination of obsolete media formats, making a comment on waste culture, life cycles and identity. Using old disks as a canvas, these artefacts are combined to create photo-fits and identities that may draw connections to the personal information that is then forever locked down underneath the paint… …This has led to an exploration of the ways in which humankind is integrating with technology. He uses bits of thin steel to carefully build figures like human skulls, a skeleton on bike, a weird fish and a wild hog, among others.
