” I’m done ” said Brenda. I looked over and there was the first bannister finished . We were yarnbombing out on Oak street in front of The Oakland Museum of California . There were 4 skinny 15 ft long metal bannisters to yarnbomb and we were now up one . I had been waiting a long time to see how the knitting would look.

Stone fields by Novastructura
This project has started from a search for a 3d-objects optimal packing algorithm over a surface, but evolved in something rather different. I love the work by Richard Long, the way he fills lonely landscapes with arcaic stones patterns. My version is a poor and lazy version of that eroic approach.. The virtual stones created by several fractal subdivision strategies, find their proper position within the circle, with a trial and error hierarchical algorythm.

Oh, to have been in Tokyo in June! Shintaro Ohata just finished up a solo exhibition at the Yukari Art Contemprary in Tokyo, Japan. This Hiroshima, Japan-born artist is known for his ability to show us everyday life in a cinematic way. He captures light in his paintings, showering the world, as we know it, with carefully placed strokes of it. "Every ordinary scenery in our daily lives, such as the rising sun, the beauty of a sunset or a glittering road paved with asphalt on a rainy night, becomes something irreplaceable if we think we wouldn’t be able to see them anymore," he told Yukari gallery. "I am creating works to capture lights in our everyday life and record them in the painting.”

Graffiti knitting: the art of the sneaky stitch. I knit, I venture into the city, I yarnstorm, I take far too many photos, I run away giggling. I have been a graffiti knitter (also known as yarnstorming or yarnbombing) since 2007, but took it up in earnest in 2009 after a terrifying incident involving the London Underground, a mechanical ‘Tube Sanitiser’ and several courageous Tube Mice.
Fascinating Lamps by Calabarte
Calabarte is the pseudonym of a Polish artist named Przemek Krawczynski, whose art takes on a peculiar but incredibly beautiful form: cool lamps. The name itself is a portmanteau of two words – art (obviously), and calabash, the fruit that carries his imagination. The calabash is a bottle gourd originating in India, although Calabarte gets his supply from Senegal. Due to ancient domestication and usage, the bottle gourd has an incredibly tough outer shell.

Some of the best street art has humor built into it. In the case of French street artist, OaKoAk, they take what the city gives to them and creates a witty street piece. Who hasn't wanted to turn a tile doorstep into a piano, or a sewer cover into a Viking's shield? A lot of these pieces are simple statements done very well. We like the Gameboy one especially.
