Nils’ Cycle Fab Long Haul Trucker Cargo Bike. Nils’ Cycle Fab Long Haul Trucker Cargo Bike A bicycle can often times be a time capsule for an individual’s journey.
Be it a tale told through road grime, dust, dents or a augmented addition like a cargo retrofit. Nils has had this Surly Long Haul Trucker for over a year and a half. In that time it’s gone through various permutations with the documented version being the most current, obviously. A LHT is already a pretty versatile bicycle, yet Nils wanted the ability to carry more weight, lower and honestly, just wanted to try something new. I realize the OP has left the thread but I would like to continue onward, searching for that best 20-inch wide rim and tire.
My next ebike is turning out to be rather tall and my answer to that is to go with the smaller rims/tires to drop me down 3-inch. The options suggested here are exactly what the doctor ordered! Since I have always been a fan of square taper bottom brackets, I saw no need to trouble my mind with this “new” system, a system which Shimano has long since replaced with outboard bearings and a right side crank arm with an integrated spindle. The Octalink design was meant to supply a better attachment to the crank arms. But, with this shallow V1 model, it is unlikely that Shimano achieved its objective. The V2 model has much longer splines, and its ISIS competitor, even longer. Ridemonkey Forums. What's best isis bb?

I had some time to kill, so I went to the garage. Thought I would share: The narrow rims bring the tire width down to a little over 3-1/4 I thought maybe it would fit my 29er that I am trying to sell. The Velo ORANGE Blog: The Thing About Goosenecks. By Igor The purpose of a stem is to connect the handlebar to your fork's steerer.
This can be accomplished by using either a quill or threadless type stem. A quill type stem uses an internal expander to wedge the quill into the steerer. This is most common on bikes which use a 1" threaded steerer, like our Campeur, as well as most older bikes. All of our quill stems are designed for 22.2mm sizing, but they can be modified to fit the French 22.0mm size. Alibaba Group. Lovely Bicycle!: Small Wheels and a Belt Drive: the Moulton TSR2. Despite seeing plenty of Moultons, old and new, over the past several years, I cannot get used to the sight of these bicycles.
The "spaceframe," resembling an elaborate truss bridge, is like a puzzle that both intrigues and frustrates me. I don't know why, but that is the reaction I have to these bikes. Briefly riding a Moulton two years ago brought me no closer to forming a more defined impression, and it took me until now to work up to trying it again. This is a custom 20-inch hot rod electric bike. Matt Shumaker really made a name for himself a few years ago by developing high performance electric bikes that used the high-end Astro Flight RC motors.
The distinctive feature of his drives were the chunks of billet aluminum that were cut into beautiful and well-designed brackets, which mounted these motors to various bicycle frames. You can see his monster yellow trike here. Matt had calculated out a lot of variables and optional configurations during the first year he was developing hot rod RC drives for E-bikes. The high-end Astro motors he used have the ability to run at very high RPMs, and to access the extra power that is waiting there, you have to use quite a bit of reduction to get the RPMs back down at the wheel speed.
Something that Matt did on his monster yellow trike is to use a smaller 20-inch driven wheel, which simplified several aspects of the design process, concerning the amount of reduction needed. The bikes sure were cool, though, and would be better kid bikes for many kids than the sorta-BMX and kinda-freestyle bikes they currently get. I goth this Schwinn Scrambler in the '70s, a primitive BMX bike with 7.5" Ashtabula cranks with matching stem and fork, chromeed steel rims with coaster brake and a chainguard. By the time the '80s rolled around, it had seen things like magnesium mags, alloy bars/stem, freewheel-converted coaster brakes, chromo forks, and eventually ACS plastic rims (that remain to this day) with the cheapest "road" tires I could afford (I had almsot no money as a kid and most upgrades were cast-offs from friends and such).

I have been accused of circling a subject a couple of times before drilling down to it. I've been told this by the folks who have to listen to me as I take the scenic route on the way to the point. Yes, sometimes I make a couple of stops along the way, and that's true now. Below is a simple way to understand bottom bracket standards, why this matters to you, and what your proper take-away should be. The two stops I made along the way were articles published within the past week on Stance Width and Frame Stiffness.
The idea here is a trifecta of themes, each of which informs the other. The irony is that the newest, most relevant bottom bracket standards aren't about bottom brackets. In the old days bottom brackets were 68mm wide. What stuck out of the bottom bracket was a "spindle", the ends of which were square, and tapered. Goats Head - Page 6. There are a lot of people who know a lot about bikes, how to set them up, which components are better, and especially how to ride them. I also know that there are many often overlooked parts on a bike, one of them being brake pads. Now I know what you are thinking, "A brake pad is a brake pad right?
" Well as I recently found out you are wrong. Until recently I knew nothing about brake pads, and it really didn't bother me. "If I stop, that's all I need", was my thinking.
