Color Photography from Russia in the Early 1900's. Posted Oct 21, 2009 Share This Gallery inShare58 The photographs of Russian chemist and photographer, Sergei Mikhailovich Prokudin-Gorskii, show Russia on the eve of World War I and the coming of the revolution.
From 1909-1912 and again in 1915, Prokudin-Gorskii travelled across the Russian Empire, documenting life, landscapes and the work of Russain people. His images were to be a photographic survey of the time. He travelled in a special train car transformed into a dark room to process his special process of creating color images, a technology that was in its infancy in the early 1900′s. I just find it fascinating. Like I can't even imagine being chosen to do art for them... :D Oh man, gosh - I guess the first proper time was at Insomnia 49 last summer. Funnily enough they jumped on the same train as me - so I popped over to say Hi! I still feel like I was a pest that weekend but I can’t thank them enough for looking after me. But yeah - as I’m sure anyone who has met them personally agrees, they’re fantastic guys & gals - very humbled & polite! In regards to the whole art thing, yeah, wow, I certainly did not imagine I’d be in this position now. I owe all of the Yogscast & you guys on Tumblr like the biggest, most snuggly thanks ever because I now have a dream job drawing dreamy people. 70% EtOH. An older Eren and Jean I drew a while back, I am still pretty fond of it.

She began drawing with ink and painting with watercolor. She has developed a taste for flat digital coloring, however, and only gets a craving for paint now and again. Her inspirations range from Edgar Allen Poe to Lewis Carroll to Dr. Seuss. Her greatest artistic influences have been Arthur Rackham, John William Waterhouse, and Edward Gorey.
