Housing Knowledge

The Local Government Association (LGA) Group has been developing the Housing Knowledge web resource since April 2009. The resource aims to support councils in dealing with their strategic housing role during the current recession and to help them lead their communities out of the recession to recovery.

Proposed improvement to coverage : Within our latest statistical release, in addition to the regular statistical results, we explain our proposal to improve the coverage of the house building statistics from the March quarter 2012 onwards by incorporating data from other Approved Inspectors in the House Building statistics and sets out the impact this would have on the headline figures. We believe the proposal represents a necessary improvement to the House Building statistics.
Building completion work Establishments specialising in building completion work such as painting and decorating, glazing, plastering, tiling, on-site joinery and carpentry, flooring (including parquet floor laying), installation of fireplaces. Construction work carried out by direct employees of government departments, local authorities, new towns and nationalised industries in the transport sector, where information is available, is included in the published construction output and employment statistics.
