A Tutorial: Fabulous Ric Rac Flowers & Matilda Jane Clothing Rocks - StumbleUpon. Let me start out with a warning or sorry of some sort. The warning is because I have never done a Tutorial before, so I hope this is helpful and easy to follow. The sorry is for how horrible my nails look. I promise I did them after looking through these pics. WOW! I thought I would start off with a Flower, I too, just learned how to make. Material: Time-Roughly 20 minutes about 28 inches of Ric Rac ( This will make a flower about 2 inches in diameter) Suggestion: The thicker the Ric Rac the better Felt (Any Color) One sheet will be fine depending on how many flowers you want to make.

Optional: Hair Clips, leaves or buttons Step One: Take the two pieces and hot glue them together. Note: You want to glue them together as if they are a mirror of one another. Step two: Lock in each curve of the first piece with the second. Say to yourself “over, under, over, under”. *If your piece does not look like this, then you most likely glued the two pieces going the wrong direction.

Zara Kids Winter Collection Snow Bricks! Firefly jars. My birthday is on June 17th, which, when you're a kid, is a pretty great day for a birthday. You never have to go to school, the activity options are endless, and your party can always include a squirt gun fight. Related Video: But, each year I also get another special, seasonal gift. Even now, among the good times with families and friends, I always see the first fireflies of the year on my birthday. Unfortunately, they seem to be one of those internet phenomena where things get passed around, and no one seems to know the original source.

"Flick glow-in-the-dark paint onto the inside of a mason jar. Make 'em. Update: Cyndee, in the comments below, was able to locate a how-to from what seems like the author of the original photograph. Spotted on We Heart It. Rainbow Cake in a Jar. I’ve always had a penchant for sunshine in a jar. Doesn’t the very phrase itself, “sunshine in a jar,” roll off your tongue and fill your mouth with magic? While I’ve never yet found myself a sunshine in a jar, I think we may have just concocted it in our kitchen tonight. In this simple recipe, a basic white cake is turned into a slew of bright colors, baked to perfection, then topped with a creamy white frosting.

Cakes baked in jars can be topped with traditional metal canning lids and stored in the fridge for up to five days. They make a great treat to ship to someone, so long as you can ensure delivery to it’s final destination within 3 days. Of course, you don’t have to do anything special with your cake-in-a-jar. There’s something lively & different about serving personal-sized batched of cake in glass mason jars. Rainbow Cake in Jar Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Comments. Leather wallets-they look like scales. When I first spotted these gorgeous card holders/wallets my jaw dropped. I love the aesthetic of them, and the ‘bunting’ of leather scraps is so genius. Plus they’re handmade and super affordable! My cards would surely be lucky to reside in such a piece. Zara Kids Winter Collection Snow Bricks! Make scallop fabric. Gathered skirt. This striped gathered skirt is my latest sewing project. I finished it a couple weeks ago but never got around to taking photos of it. I based it off this tutorial which was a great start but I had to figure out a lot on my own.

In theory, it was a step up from the elastic waist skirt but in reality it was about five steps up and therefore kind of over my head (i.e. the ‘invisible zipper’ in the back is anything but invisible).I used a medium weight fabric from ikea which gave it some nice body. Last weekend I wore it out for the first time and kept on having flashes from that scene in Parent Trap where Hayley Mills #1 is dancing around with half a skirt on and frilly undies peaking out (that’s one of the best scenes in the movie, right?). Except my undies were not nearly as cute. Litter-Free Lunch Sack . Craft Apparent with Vickie Howell . PBS Parents.

School is starting and that means lots of new things: a new teacher, new clothes, and new school supplies. We thought we'd add to all the excitement by making a new re-usable, totally washable lunch bag! Materials To make one 10-inch tall by 5-inch wide by 3-inch deep lunch bag: Making the Panels Cut two 13-inch by 9 1/2-inch panels of the fabric.

Using the water soluble marker, mark a 2-inch tall by 3 1/2-inch wide rectangle in the middle of one of the panels- 5-inches from the top and 3-inches from either side of the panel. Iron on the embroidery pattern pieces you want to use inside this marked rectangle. Embroider over the marked pattern with a small back stitch. Spray the rectangle marking with water to make it disappear and iron the panels. Hem each of the panels by folding the tops over 1/4-inch two times towards the fabric's wrong side. Sewing the Bag Pin the panels right sides together around their three raw sides and sew them with a 1/2-inch seam allowance.

Finishing. Map cutout lampshades. Make felt ball flower things. There was a time — and maybe we’re still in it — when almost every stylish home contained a vase of craspedia, also known as “Billy Balls,” “Billy Buttons,” and a few other terms I’m not aware of. And why not? Craspedia are a very cool-looking flower, after all; definitely a great choice for mid-century modern fans, with those long, skinny stems and graphic yellow balls. I have a bunch of them in my home as well, and I do love them. However, I don’t like that the dried ones lose their vivid color and the fresh ones don’t keep long. Enter this super simple felt version by Tanya of Dans le Townhouse: an almost perfect substitute for the real flower. Read the full how-to after the jump! You’re done!! How To Create Paper Blossoms | Apartment Therapy DC - StumbleUpon. Previous image Next image We've talked about using paper decorations to punch up a last minute party, but there are ways that you can incorporate paper into your everyday décor as well. My favorite paper creations of late are tissue paper cherry blossoms, which are as pretty as they are easy to make.A few weeks ago I was charged with the task of decorating a ballroom for my daughter's school auction. The theme was cherry blossoms, and the result was magical…and budget friendly too! MATERIALS• Tree branches (branches with multiple off-shoots are best)• Tissue paper (A few sheets goes a long way.

Typically I'm not a huge fan of faux flowers, but these are so fun to make and so sweet that I've happily made an exception for them in my home. Images: Leah Moss. Felt organizer. As I start this post I am giggling (and I think my mom would have a good chuckle too). Something you need to know about me sooner rather than later is that I am NOT very organized. I usually put stuff away in 'a-place-I-will-definitely-find-it'.

Needless to say, I never find the stuff or will find it again when we move. One thing that always piles up in various areas of our house are our bills and receipts. Because my husband and I both get them I'm never sure what can go in the trash and what can't - so I make small piles in random places. So when I saw this tutorial in a Korean book that I have (its called 펠트소품 DIY - phonetically its peltuh sohpoom) I was quite excited. I made some minor changes to details, here and there. You will need: 4 different colour sheets of felt (2mm). Love and blessings. Heart wall art. I loved how my Valentine's Day garland and wreath looked so I decided to make another Valentine's Day decoration. In our living room we have a big blank wall that is patiently waiting for us to finish the wall art we plan on hanging. I decided to use that space and try to make a simple, cheap wall art. Supplies: Card stock, pattern to print (I did sheet music), scissors, tapeCost: $0 (I already had all of the supplies) I started off by printing off sheet music.

Then I found a heart shape that I liked (via google images). I cut out the hearts by hand - I'm very jealous of people with cricuts or other similar machines that do it for you. :-) I had originally planned on just taping the hearts to the wall (I was going for very simple wall art) but decided it might look neat if the hearts stood a little bit off of the wall. Does that make sense? I printed the outline with the folding lines (light grey) onto card stock and cut them out. Then I taped them to the backs of the hearts. All done! Ceiling clouds! Sheep pillows. Several years ago I drove through Europe in the Springtime and I will never forget seeing all the adorable lambs frolicking in the fields.

They were unbelievably, utterly cute. I wanted to get out of the car and pet each one we came across. Recently when I was thinking of a project to add some springtime cheer to my apartment I kept thinking of the little lambs and decided to try my hand at making a lamb inspired throw pillow. This project turned out to be even quicker and cuter than I imagined so I sewed my first little lamb a friend to play with. They add a whimsical touch of Spring cheer to any room!
